do I have this right?

Carnaubas give a deep/wet look while sealants give a clear/reflective look?

as a general statement that holds true. yet, with all the different products that are available some would say that it is subject to the eye of the beholder.

With todays new products, that statement isn't always true.
Example:
Meguiars NXT darkens the finish and looks deep and wet.
Poorboys Nattys looks very clear, reflective and wet.

Different products will look different depending on color of paint, plus metalic or lack of.

Then why do so many people top sealants with a carnauba? I thought it was for the look?

It is many times for the look. My favorite look on my Lexus with bamboo pearl paint is
two coats of UPP which is very clear, glossy, and reflective
I top that with two coats Nattys in the summer time and that adds more wettness and depth to the paint.
However, in the winter months, with salt, etc., I have found the vehicle easier to clean with just UPP.

and you are right. so is kim wallace. it is subjective and only you can decide what look is best for you.
