DO glazes really have a place in our arsenal?

Well, the thing is, I am going to have to order the stuff. That is why i am asking. Can I even put anything on top of NXT?

In my experiences with NXT, topping it with a carnauba (S100) didn't do anything for the finish. I may get flamed for this, but I personally believe that NXT has a great intitial WOW factor in its gloss, wetness, and reflectivity. It's downside is lack of durability and lack of slickness after a couple of washes. I was personally very happy with the AIO/NXT combo I used for a while, but it just didn't last long enough for me. However, it's certainly easy enough to add another layer of NXT any time ya want.

Based on your feedback, I bought some of the Professional 1Z Mettalic, great stuff. However, I have a black A8 and even when being very careful, I end up with minor stuff on the car. I now have 115K on the Audi, and while everyone else tells me it looks great, the minor marring that shows up bugs the heck out of me.

When I bought the Metallic, I also bought some Wax Polish Soft. Would that hide the marring for me? If so, I am all over it. Would you use WPS by itself, then top it, or would you use the Metallic? I also know have 1Z Glanz, Collinite 845 and Fleetwax, Megs NXT, S100, OCW and a little bit of UPP left in my bag of tricks to use. Lately been pretty happy with the Fleetwax and 845, but just bought the NXT to see how it would look. I really like the way the water flies off the Collinite and my car looks clean when I get home after a rain.

By the way, what color is the wife's A8?

what would the diferrence be in the look of NXT + AIO, or the VM/RMG/CMW be?

What type of paint? Metallic or flat? They would be similar in apperance on a non-metallic, IMO. I just used RMG/YCW/CMW and the outcome was noticably more depth than the Zaino I had been using, and a noticeable increase in metallic flake pop over the Z2Pro. The AIO/NXT combo will have a wet, oily look, and will be highly reflective, if I remember correctly. Unfornutately, it will probably not last long. The CK combo will be more traditional carnauba looking and CMW is advertised to last 6 months +. Plus, the CK products won't stain trim. I'd go with them, personally. However, if you can in any way get your hands on some YCW to use after the VM/RMG and before the CMW, I'd get it. It will look better than AIO/NXT any day on a metallic paint, IMO.

SamIam- Her Audi is silver too (heh heh, life's hard enough ;) ). The WPS didn't really hide anything, even though it seems sorta "glaze like" to me- maybe it'd do more for you since light marring is a different issue on black than it is on silver.

I was so fed up with how it looked that I ended up taking the rotary to it and getting the marring under control. I did use WPS again as me penultimate step after the Pro MP but I dunno if it added much of anything. I still really just use WPS as a sort of cleaner wax. So sorry, but I don't know if it'll be the answer you're looking for. Last black vehicle I did (rent-a-Suburban) I used #80 topped with #5 New Car Glaze topped with #16. Now *that* combo hid a lot of residual marring.

I'd use the Collinite if I were you. Probably the Fleetwax since it shouldn't cause any trouble over whatever (the 845 might be a bit solventy for use over WPS/NXT, for instance).

05Sleeper- Same thing as with SamIam, I'd put some Collinite over the NXT. Gee, I'm a broken record on this Collinite business these days huh? Must be because winter's coming.

is the YCW really that impressive? what will it do to the finish? iyt will be used on dark colors here, but can it be used with good success on Audi Silver later?

I was running a search for YCW and went through this entire thread and then at the very end I find my question but its not answered :(. Is YCW impressive? Is it a glaze similar to RMG but without the light abrasives?
