Disgusted with Tire Shines

Hmm..

Although I wasn't quite as Autopian as I was then, I know for sure I didn't clean the tires with anything like Westley's. I think I may have been using the original EO cleaner then. Is this a definite characteristic of Endurance if the tires aren't cleaned with an optimum tire cleaner beforehand? A few other folks I spoke with around that time and since seemed to have the same trouble :nixweiss:

If it indeed was a bad case of blooming after a harsh detergent than it would not have mattered what dressing you put on or even no dressing at all, you would have seen the same thing. This has nothing to do with Endurance. Blooming is a function of the tires themselves.

For reference, this is the look I am getting with Endurance High Gloss. I think it's a nice sheen and not too glossy. I apply and buff off about 15 minutes later.

Wow, if that's *high* gloss what's regular look like now? That appears similar to how 303 looks on mine

:xyxthumbs

I'm not sure, when I used to use, the Endurance was totally gone after a normal day's rain leaving behind the bloomed brown tires :nixweiss: This was a while ago already though

Maybe I need to give Meg's Endurance Gold Class anothe try? I know I have used it 4-5 times with dissapointing results ? Is there more than one Endurance tire product under the Meg's line?

I use duragloss's tire shine.. the results i hear u guys describing w/ meg's is almost as good as my results.

i just washed my car last night, its been about 2 weeks and it still had shine on it, it was just a bit dusty. i degreased my tires to get it off but i didn't do it twice and i still had some on there this morning.. just shows how good it holds up through rain etc.

duragloss > all other tire shines :)

There are two versions of Endurance, Original Formula and High Gloss. Mostly what you find in the stores is the High Gloss version.

The main key to Endurance is to let it sit for a while after applying it to let it soak into the tire and then come back and wipe off the excess. If you apply it and then immediately go for a drive you are gonna get sling. It does not dry right away.

I've tried several tire dressings (about 6) and the one that I'm using now is the Turtle Wax - Tire Wax. Leaves the tires nice and black with a nice sheen and seems to last about three weeks.

Anyone tried good old black boot polish in the tin. It's very old school but it does work.

For quite a while now I have been cleaning the wheel arches and tyres with Pacer Nitro, professional wash and wax. Works brilliantly. Keeps the wax level up in the tyres and also is great for alloy wheels that have synthetic wax on them.

My latest tire dressing method has been to apply a mixture of synthetic waxes, leave on the tyre for 20 mins, remove, apply a coat of RD Black wheel arch paint which can be used for tyres also and wipe off. Then a two step non silicone and silicone tyre shine finishes it off, the silicone dressing seals in the non silicone and the rest. You could even use hi gloss endurance as the final step.

Lasts for many weeks even through hailstorms, no sling or dusting

How about this,

Meg's natural rubber vinyl dressing (red bottle)

Valvoline synpower tyre shine (silver aerosol can)

Apply the megs first and finish with valvoline. A nice easy two step method that will last much longer.

Found that if you wait for at least six - 12 hours before driving the car with the dressed tyres, the dressings will last longer.

i work at a dealer and we have the carbrite purple dressing. makes the tires look great like glass if you like that look but the sling is horrible. it gets all over the car and is a pain to clean off, it smears bad :(

i use armor all detailers advantage foam and wipe the excess off it a damp sponge :xyxthumbs

All these posts and I figured I would see the product I am pretty happy with STONERS MORE SHINE LESS TIME Dont need my tires to shine I just happen to like a mat finish and it lasts a week till I wash again $4.00 a can

I used to use MSLT until I totally gave up solvent based dressings. In fact, I used to order a case directly from Stoner.

I thought it gave a high shine, the degree varied depending on the tire, definitely shinier than a water based dressing

Personally I like a tire to look like it was when it was brand new...slightly shiny, with a deep rich look.

Don't really care for the just shellacked goopy look that blinds...to me it detracts from the overall appearance of the car. It's like having tires scream...."look at me...not the car".

Does it really matter? Tire shine is relatively easy to apply.

I used the stuff with the glitter in it once...attraceted ricers like flies...

MR. CHEMIST you are right I dont need the tires to shine like that I want the car to get noticed .

Same here. Call me crazy, call me stupid but for some reason, I want the paint to outshine the tires.

I like the stoner tire shine, not too shiny, but just enought to bring the tire's to a nice clean appearance. I used Black Magic before I knew any better and it seemed to eat through the rubber:eek: I'm not a fan of gels, I like full coverage so a spray or aerosol are best for me, used w/ some cardboard protection for the paint.

Yeah, that was another for me that finally ended my use of MSLT and all solvent based dressings, ( used to order a case of it) had to worry about it getting on paint constantly. And for me, it did sling quite a bit, the sling was sometimes so severe had to do a full wash to get it off.
