Disappointed in Zaino ClearSeal Durability

I've used CS on a couple different vehicles. Our vehicles sit outside and have paint defects. On less than perfect paint the beading wasn't the most consistant with CS alone. Just looking at the viscosity it is a bit thinner than the Pro series. I don't think it has the ability to fill as much as Z5pro. Cs works great for me over ZAIO, Z5pro or Z2pro. I'd suggest using ZAIO or Duragloss as a base and see if that solves the problem. It could be an issue of the paint not being smooth.

Thanks for the honest review TigerMike. Sounds like CS performs better as a monthly topper to keep the shine, rather than a standalone LSP. I'm sure you applied it properly as well...

This might get good...

Scott, hows your testing of CS going? I know you get great durability from everything.

I have it on a black 740 but I haven't seen the car in about 2 months...and that was when I applied it. :hairpull

Personally, even if CS lasted a year it wouldn't matter to me since I think Z8 adds a lot more to the look and is about as easy to use.

agreed i use CS once a month and Z8 after every wash

I've been a little disappointed in the beading of CS as well. I actually have gotten better results with Z5 Pro/Z8 than with Z5 Pro/CS/Z8. I've put two coats of CS on since July 4th, and both times I did a coat of Z5 Pro under the CS and followed with the CS. The last coat was 3 weeks ago.

My car is driven only on the weekends and sits under a carport. It had not been washed since the last detail mentioned above, and it was slightly dusty. I just was not very impressed with the beading before and after the car was washed. Some of the beads were just almost blobs! Don't know what the deal is!

The car looks great though IMO.

I finally saw the black 740 today. I washed it with ONR and used Clear Seal to protect the paint on July 2nd. The car sits outside most of the time. I washed it with ONR two weeks after initially applying CS and the paint was beading nicely and still slick. Since then, either it has rained on his Monday (I wash his vehicles every other Monday), or he has been out of town and once I even had jury duty, so today (September 24th) was the first time I'd seen the car in a little more than 2 months.

The car had been washed recently at a tunnel wash but apparently had been under a tree for a while because it had a lot of sap on it. ONR had no problems cutting through it though. The beading was pretty flat, nothing like when I had washed it two weeks after initial application. The paint was still smooth and there was some slickness but I don't know if it was because of remaining CS or using ONR to wash it. The paint looked okay but no real pop left.

Since I wanted to see if it was the car's care that may have caused the less than stellar durability, after washing, I put Clear Seal on the driver's side of the hood, Opti-Seal in the middle and Ultima PGP on the passenger side. OS dried the quickest, UPGP the slowest. Visually, right after appliction, UPGP was the wettest and the CS side looked flat in comparison to both OS and UPGP. After I also cleaned their truck, I checked the hood again (about 90 minutes later) and the UPGP and OS sides looked pretty much identical and the CS side had improved visually somewhat but still didn't look as good as the other two.

Now the waiting game begins to see how the durability shakes out. Too hard to compare durability when using different vehicles, I figure it is more fair to use them all on the same vehicle.

Very interesting observations Scott. I can't say mine have been much different regarding CS though. I started using CS in May and have tried 2 separate two month applications so far (May - July, and July - Sept), and in both two month periods, CS appears dead at the second month. Visually, the pop is gone, and the water kinda pools...not what I expect from a Z product for sure. I am sticking with AquaWax for my "quick n easy" sealant application...

Mike,

I have been trying CS on my ES roof for four months now and it is still beading nicely. To my eyes it is a bit like Z-8 but with a little more clarity or gloss...the difference is small between it and Z-8 but CS seems to last longer in my testing so far.

Man, I must be doing something in error then. :( I know Zaino sealants have stellar durability, and I expected no less of CS. I guess that's why I'm bummed out at the moment. I still have 85-90% of my CS bottle left, so I'll keep trying for sure. I guess that's technically called insanity then isn't it? Trying something over and over and hoping for a different outcome! :D

Mike,

I'm not sure what is going on in your situation but after trying a bunch of things I have settled on just spraying an applicator with CS and wiping it on that way.

I've found that CS mist can travel into odd places with the slightest wind and I had a tough time getting the stuff off my windows last detail. Spraying the app spreads it nice and thin and keeps it locationally controlled.

The surge seems to be working based on my reading.

Of course, with the way the media likes to spin things, you have to dig deep into the paper to find that out.

At least we agree on something, right Lee? :usa

I figured to be fair, due to the fact this car sits outside most fo the time and has 9 year old paint on it, I wanted to eliminate the car itself as a factor and use all three wipe on, walk away products on it side by side. If they are all dead in a few months, either none are as durable as I'd hoped or that particular car is the problem.
