dirty pads

I have done a search but can not find what I am looking for.

When I use a white pad with megs 7 on the hood of my black 4runner it gets pretty dirty. The pad cleans out easily after letting it soak in bucket of warm water. On my wifes black honda it barely gets dirty. I do know that when i bought the 4runner it had a smudge on the hood. I happened to see them trying to buff it out(wish I knew then what i know now!). I am hoping it is from dirt laying the minor scratches,etc. not a reduction in the clearcoat. The hood does shine up well but it just concerns me.

Well, since #7 has no polishing ability (no abrasives or chemical cleaners) the dirt has to be coming from somewhere other than the polish. #7 has no impact on the clearcoat.



Hard to say where the dirt is coming from. Could be lots of ways. All depends on how you use the vehicles and what elements they're exposed to on a daily basis. Some vehicles just get dirtier than others. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
 
Are you sure it's not a single stage paint? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but if you do have a single stage paint and no clearcoat, anything you use on a bare paint surface will come up with some pigment, which would look like dirt. I know my MR2 has a single stage black paint, so now matter how clean I get it, unless there's some reasonably fresh wax on it, there will ALWAYS be some black on anything I use.

This was my first thought. :up Even non-abrasive products like glaze and liquid waxes will pull colour on single stage paint from their solvents, while you don't see anything from clearcoated paints.



Of course, it could be just dirt that claying and similar prep might have removed....
