What: CD2 Engine Detailer

Where: Right now Amazon and Ebay are the only two places I can find it.

How Much: mmmm.... about ten bucks a can unless you buy it for about $45 for a case of 6. Not cheap, but it will do what I'm showing here five or six times a can.

How To Use: This engine was just dusty. I didn't use a drop of water to rinse it and I didn't use any other degreaser. I just sprayed the CD2 on and shut the hood. 20 minutes later I buffed the drips out and it looked like new. It's the fastest engine detail you can do.

I only spray it on mostly just the plastics and rubber just because it doesn't do much for anything else, but the nice thing about this product is that you can wipe it off the painted areas without it streaking. Not many dressings will do that in my experience.

At first I didn't even think it was too dirty at all because my engine trim looks similar to that. I was pretty shocked to see the after pictures. It looks like I'll be buying a case sooner or later.
 
This is the same engine I used for the engine detailing article I wrote up for Autogeek's blog site. It started out pretty clean, but when you just want to wow your mechanic when they pop your hood then this is sweet stuff to use. ;) Very quick and a nice impact. CD2 is the secret weapon for all of my engine details. In fact, I advertise engine detailing seperate from regular details simply because people will hire me to do just that area. At $60 bucks a detail I can easily recoup the cost of the product, so it isn't much of an expense for me. I wouldn't suggest buying a case of it unless it was going to make you money. Engine detailing 'before/after' shots get me a lot of business. :)
 
I'd rather save money by purchasing more cans than buying one at a time. I do that with most products that I can't get from the vendors here.
 
I agree, but one can would last me probably a year or more if I was just using it on my own vehicles. It just isn't necessary to use it very often, so six cans would be quite a bit of product to use up. It's still worth it, but most consumers wouldn't have need of that much of this.
 
Ebay junkie here and I was reading posts before posting myself on how to detail an engine... just up my alley! Thanks! I checked on CD2 engine detailer and can not seem to find it on ebay. Anyone want to sell me a can and I'll zip you the payment via paypal or do you know this guys seller ID. I appreciate it!
 
Rats! I just looked at some of this stuff a week or so ago. I was in either AutoZone or Pepboys.

I'll find it and try some. Anymore, I like anything that is quick and easy.

CD2 was bought by Turtle Wax. From what I understand they started out as a seperate company and then were merged at some point. Turtle Wax makes some pretty good crap though. I love their bug and tar remover. The blue Zymol wax on the shelf is a Turtle Wax product too, so they do do something right once in awhile. ;)

Either way... Turtle Wax may not have the greatest reputation in the world, but CD2 Engine Detailer is one of the best things to ever happen to obsessive detailers like myself. It makes engine detailing so much easier and so gratifiying. I feel like sending them a letter of thanks every time I use it. I'm on my last can too, so I'm going to have to order another case this week.
 
It seems like I remember the CD-2 being an Alemite product originally.
As I remember it, it was marketed as a two part system. An engine cleaner and a follow up dressing in a kit or package. I don't think it was terribly well received at the time.

Anthony: Why don't you see if your local Auto Zone would order a case of it for you? Their price is much better and they might even ship it to your store at no charge.

I'll have to check and see. I hate paying what I pay for it. I'd rather have them stock it and I'll buy it at their cost. I'll by twenty cans if I can get them for a good deal. There isn't much I wouldn't do for a good deal on CD2. Until I can find a good replacement that is as easy and effective I guess I'm stuck with it. lol
