Does anyone have an Kodax Easyshare DX7630 that can give me a review or heads up? I am really looking for the right digital camera for around $500.

I am ready to build a photo album to keep in my shop for customers to thumb through.

Get the best CANON that 500 will buy.

Although Canon makes great cameras (I have a G2) buy what YOU need or want. Evaluate exactly what you want to do then look at how much peripherals cost. Some items to look at are:

- extra memory cards cost and availability

- extra batteries

- long the batteries last (with LCD on)

- software that's bundled and ease of use

- ability to add on external flashes, lenses, filters, etc This depends on what you use your camera for. For what you want to do you might not need any of them.

- don't forget about extra costs such as camera bag, tripod, etc, etc.

As far as comprehensive buying advice, this is one of the best sites around for what you need: http://www.steves-digicams.com/

The DX7630 is an excellent camera using an all glass lense where as most DC's us a glass/plastic combo -

it's almost versatile enough to say it's as close to pro you can get with out spending the extra $$$ but easy enough to use in point and shoot mode for everyone in the house.

Most Kodak DC's produce very vibrant rich pictures but they use a very high compression method in storing their photos so it can lead to some artifacts but as a consumer user you will never notice them. One great thing about Kodak Cameras is the have a specific 3:2 mode for shooting pictures that come out perfect when printed in 4"x6". Most do not and you lose some of the photo (I print all mine in 4x6 :().

Canon s410 and s500 are great also but have less "scene" modes so they are not as versatile. (I have a 410 and love it but wish for more options). the 7630 is not the smallest camera on the planet (which for me is a big issue - I hate carrying around a "bag" which makes the Canon s410 perfect since it fits in a pocket).

You might want to check out the Kodak - LS753 or even better the LS743 (which can be had for around 250 bucks) - they are small (pocket friendly) produce awesome photos (concensus is that the 743 is a bit better than the 753) and use SD cards which are fairly cheap and easy to find.

Make sure to get a lens pen to clean the lens ( http://www.lenspen.com/ ). Better yet, get a UV filter lens for your camera to protect the camera's lens. Whenever I have other ppl take a pic with my camera they always seem to leave fingerprints on the lens

oh, I love my Canon G5:bounce

I bought a DX7630 a few months back. It was recommended

to me by the salesman. I told him I wanted something idiot-proof, but would allow me to grow with an increase in picture taking skills. All the photos I've posted were with this camera. In the hands of a noob like me, I guess you cam make some decint shots. But in the hands of a skilled picture taker, significantly better, plus some flexibility to alter setting as needed.

These are some of the very first pitures I took with the camera.

Shots were done in auto mode.

I think a Canon A75 (3.2MP), A85 (4MP), or A95(5MP) and a CP-220 dye sub printer would suit your needs. The CP-220 prints out 4x6 photos without the need of a computer.
