Diesel fuel spill in carpet: suggestions?

Any of you guys run into this before? I had a guy call me wanting it fixed, but I haven't dealt with it before and didn't want to make it worse.

The only way to do it properly is to remove the carpet from the vehicle and lay down a enzyme that eats the gas and then power wash it out. I've had to do it on a few occasions and it's just time consuming so plan accordingly.

I guess the other thing I should've mentioned was you have a limited time frame in which to do it before the gas starts eating away the fibers (within 48 hours of spill and that's really pushing it) otherwise replacement will be the only real option. remember gas eats just about anything.

While I haven't tried directly on diesel, I have had very good luck with getting out oil stains using WD-40, then a degreaser. The WD-40 breaks up the oil and the degreaser lets you pull up the WD-40.

I've used a carpet solvent and then degreaser in the past will good results. You do have to extract quite a few times with the solvent first, then degreaser then deodorizer. Febreze encapsulates any remaining odor.

had a cust spilt a 5 gal can of diesel in his trunk went into rear of car seat backs and carpet was able to get stains out removed carpet and jnsulation but the smell remains was thinking of sending him to someone with an ozone machine any opinions?

I thought enzymes are for food/protein based stains? The problem with Diesel fuel is that it's stains, is oily & smells really bad. I strongly suggest removing the carpet immediately and brushing baking soda(or something that absorbes without staining) into the contaminated area. It will soak up the oils and the liquid. Then once totally dry, use a solvent based cleaner and then a liquid based one last.

I am letting everyone know that is guy is a troll. I have been trying to sell stuff in the good deals section and every time I post a thread he gets in there and posts harassing messages. Any clients or potential clients of this guy needs to watch out, he is not a nice guy and I would not recommend him for anything by his behavior displayed on this board.

Didn't you post something in the good deals section when it is supposed to go in the classified? And wasn't said brush actually more than autogeek was selling it for a few weeks back? And then wasn't it you that kept bumping your own thread? And then you post here?
