Did Something Stupid - Scratched Paint! - Advice

Ok, I was clearing some snow and decided to use the snow shovel to remove the top 10 inches off my car. You can see where this is going. Suffice to say, I nicked the car. I misjudged where the hood started and scratched it. So the question is, any good ways to get rid of it? It's not a gouge or deep. Probably like a human hair deep maybe?



Am I looking to get a pro to repaint it or is this something that I can fix on my own? Thanks for any input.

I tried some scratch remover. It hid all my lighter scratches, but anything deeper, it didn't do much too. It helps a little, but nothing substantial.



BTW - Dealer wants $517 dollars to repaint the hood, blend the fender and since my stripe is painted on, fix that after the blending. Sounds like a whole bunch of overkill - I don't know. That's why I am here :)
 
The pictures aren't coming up for me. But the rule is if you can feel them with your finger nail then they will be tough to get out. If not, they can be buffed out. Over the counter products will be of little use to you unless you ahve a DA or RA buffer. It is next to impossible to remove scratches by hand without doing more damage. I have removed a ton of damage done by those so called scratch removers sold to be used by hand. Most cases the scratches are removed by scratching the whole area so you can't see the main scratch anymore. How can you see one scratch when it is now surrounded by a thousand.



Take it to a detailer and see what he says.

try doing a light wet sand on it, whats the worst that could happen you have to get it fixed? try 2000 grit then buff it out, may not be perfect but it might help
