Did I apply opti-coat correctly? (PICS)

I fully believe that OC is the most durable super sealant of it's kind... but if i'm going to use something that isn't supposed to have to be touched, i'd rather now have to add stuff to it either. The water spotting, the lack of really good looks, etc wants to steer me in a different direction. I don't want to go a standard sealant route either since I do like the comfort of having something hard enough on my paint that resists scratches, sandblasting, and rock chips.
 
At the end of the day, you are the only one that can and should decide what is best for you and your car. There is no wrong answer.

I actually had done my whole car when I first got it, I didn't polish the bumper because when I picked the car up I had them blue tape the whole front of it... so it really had very little marring. I decided one day to do a 2 stage polishing on it... the 2000 grit really didn't seem to take the OC all the way off, I used the 4500 after, and the finish looked excellent. It actually does bead much better than the rest of the car. I am going to do the rest of the car again. Especially seeing if I can do anything at all with the orange peel areas that Scott had told me that's likely what they were. I know the smoother the finish, the better the look of course, but the better the beading as well. I'm not completely unhappy with the OC at all... i'm just another detailer who wants to try different stuff all the time lol.

I havnt washed yet. That was rain 3 days after the application.
 
I called Optimum this morning. I believe it was David that picked up. He said it can be layered before 60 days. It has been 10 days since my initial application so i asked if I can just do an ONR wash and then apply a 2nd coat of opti-coat 2.0. He said yes.

That sounds good man... for me to feel safe about the bonding i'd still do an IPA wipedown no matter what... BUT this is an optimum guy so his opinion means more than mine. I overdo everything anyway.
 
After watching the above video I have to admit I never spend that much time or am as fussy. I spend less time rubbing it in and cover more area in less time (and use less product I think). But I feel I'm still thorough and achieve good coverage.



What does everyone else think about Chris' video?
 
I re-Opti coated 5 days ago. Today it rained.



I did an ONR wash and just applied Opti-coat again as David from Optimum said to. I used Chris' new method of applying directly to the paint.



It looks better to me! Thanks guys.

Looks good. That looks more in line with my OC2.0's excellent beading.



After an ONR wash I just use a QD as a drying aid and it looks freshly waxed every time.
