Did yet ANOTHER 106 GTI for one of my brothers mates tonight.
It was a funny one this, cos it appeared to be fairly decent paintwork wise with very little in the way of swirls and scratches upon first inspection but once washed, clayed and dried and under the halogen light stand there were ALOT of cob web style scratches and swirls. I struggled to get good pics of these for some reason, but you get an idea from the 2 below:
Anyways, i figured I'd just whip out the Menz IP with a cutting pad on the pc as i do most times and it would sort it out no problem at all, so with my plan of action sorted in my head i masked off all the trim, badges etc:
ready to go!
Now i remember having to put alot of work in to remove defects from the last GTI i did (the blue one about a month ago) but thought nothing of it as it was in a bad state but this GTI tonight was also resistant to the IP and PC, is peugot paint notoriously hard as i had always assumed it was quite soft?
anyways, i stepped up to the rotary with a polishing pad and IP, still nothing!
so up to the big boy! the power gloss and a cutting pad, wahey! finally we were getting somewhere!
The power gloss is really good stuff, i swear after only 2 passes with the rotary everything was gone and once broken down it was lsp ready just like the IP
I followed up with ssr1 on the pc anyways to remove some light holograming and then put a coat of nattys blue on (how nice does this smell!!)
The wheels got poorboys wheel sealant, which also smells rather nice and leaves a very slick surface
so, here are the final results:
