I like cheese.
I finally broke down and purchased a Reverse Osmosis system. Logistically, the Water Store wasn't a very convenient option anymore. When I initially had the unit installed, the company put a whole-house water softener next to my water heater. I cite the longer life expectancy of the membranes in the RO unit as my main motivation.
Originally, the the TDS of my tap water at the spigot was around 400ppm. After the water softener, we are at ~260. My RO unit only got the water to about 090ppm so the company placed an inline DI unit after the RO membranes and before the tank; 003ppm on a bad day. As a reference, the Sparkletts (RO?) I get delivered is 020ppm, in every jug! I have had the unit installed in my van for about three weeks now.
The 100 gallon tank in my van takes about three hours to fill and much of that must be due to the very low water pressure on our property. I filled at a clients house last week, there pressure is insane. My tank filled in 50 minutes! I could almost hear the membranes gasping for air. I have noticed a tad more spotting (believe it or not) since switching over. Not etching in direct sunlight or anything. . . they will wipe away with a quick swipe, one minute or thirty minutes later. I have to check in with the water company to see if they have any ideas. 003 is pretty clean, you know?!
