DGPS + 845 = persistent haze; why?

Last week, I spent an afternoon #83'ing my car, followed by 1x Wolfgang's DGPS. It was left sitting for ~20 minutes, buffed off, and that was that.

The following afternoon - something like 20 hours later - I, in my inability to ever leave anything the hell alone, decided to top that with a layer of Collinite 845 IW. It also sat for 20-30 minutes and was buffed off.

An uneven "staining" effect was pretty obvious then. Once I got the car in the sun for awhile, there was a really nasty hazing, presumably from the solvents of one or both of the LSPs.

And now, a week following application of that stuff, I've found that a GC wash failed to remove some of the hazing, which is visible under certain light. Wiping / Meg's burgundy store-bought QD fails to remove it without a significant amount of pressure on the MF.

Suggestions? LSP reapplication? Dawn wash? Some sort of cleaner and start from scratch?

I was just getting ready to make a thread on this! I have the same probem except mine is with 845 with AW layered on top. It gave this nasty looking film the next day and its all over the car. Its like a hazey film. Looks nasty. Anyone else have this issue too?

Did you shake the snot out of the Collinite before using it?

Was it liquid or somewhat solid and clumpy?

What was the temp outside?

I used 845 yesterday in 55 degree weather and initially I had to warm the bottle under some warm water and vigorously shake until the wax became fluid. My vehicle turned out spectacular ...IMO!

Hazing can be an unwanted effect of quite a bit of different things:

#83 can leave a finish that is not quite "LSP-ready" on some paints surfaces. I really like #83 (works well for me), but I always have to follow up with a lighter polish like #80. This haze is "physical" in nature and cannot just be simply wiped off.

Layering over an uncured product can also cause hazing - more chemical in nature. If your wolfgang layer hadn't properly cured then the 845 could have disrupted this layer and caused your problem.

I would grab some QD (or maybe even some extreme case - IPA) and wipe an inconspicuous section. If the haze goes away then it's more than likely a compromised WG layer...if it doesn't go away (even with IPA usage), then it is more likely a "physical" haze.

I absolutely love WG - I have 3 bottles since I use it so often. Although the manufacturer states 24 hours for complete curing, in my experience it requires more. It could be the heavy oil content, but I *always* get hazing if I apply anything over WG if I don't wait at least 48 hours. I am in Texas so the climate could be a factor, but the Dallas area is *generally* LSP curing-friendly.

I hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice, all.

I did check the results of the DACP in pretty harsh sunlight that would show this haze; it wasn't there.

It also does actually come off under moderate-heavy rubbing pressure, which is something I'd like to avoid for obvious reasons on black paint.

When I checked the paint post-DGPS, it was a bit streaky/oily as you'd somewhat expect with such an oily LSP, but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary.

The 845 was very well shaken and perfectly runny as it should be before use; I tried to apply it evenly and thin, but it still left the paint stained-looking and smeary/hazy.

Thinking about a dawn wash followed by a less oily LSP; Synwax FX, maybe? I dunno. Open to suggestions; I've got Klasse AIO/SG, DGPS, P21S, NXT liquid, #26, Synwax FX, maybe one or two other things I'm forgetting.

Haha..I get that haze everytime I use 845 IW on my car. Its just from left over residue that I believe you/I arent getting completely off from the dried wax. I always just wait to get rid of it until I wash it again and it looks great after i wash it.

Mine's stayed past two washes, the second of which was a particularly strong dilution of GC.
