Does anyone know if this in a MUST step ?? I know it's supposed to be a bonding agent , but wondered if it cleans at all and removes old wax ext... ??????

I have used it in the past , but wonder if it's a must do or if a 501 would work better as a cleaner followed by 105 (which does not have the cleaning punch) like 501 does and it more of a polish/sealant combo . I plan on multi coats of 111 as lsp.

I asked one of the owners if it was a must step, and they told me since my vehicle was new i didn't have to do it.. If you're wanting to use a cleaner/wax use 501 followed by clear coat polish 111.

601 doesn't clean and prep the paint like 501 does. You could also just use 501 by itself. It cleans, polishes and protects longer than what 111 would.

I have a lot of experience with the DG line. The 601 is not a must, but it definitely has some advantages. I use a 3 step process after polishing of 501 to clean and seal the paint followed by 105 and then I top it with 845IW. The 601 allows you to follow up one stage right after the other without waiting. For me, that is the big advantage.

Here is a thread I wrote about mixing 601 and either 501 or 105 to save time:
