Dannnnggggggg....

AUDIs=Hard as heck clears!

You did it though.....got right through it. Nice work bro.

Did you put something on the roof? I'll detail an Allroad this friday and I saw that the roof has a different paint with no clear coat, and I think is very porous.

I actually treat the roof on the allroads with clay, polish and seal as I would with any other painted roof. No need for intense polishing usually with that sort of roof so usually clay, FP, and Jeffs AJ does the job for me. Hope that helps

I did not want to risk the least bit of rotary trails so I figured finishing with PC was more than enough to leave a 100% finish.

I can understand that. Try a finishing pad at about 1000 rpms moving at around 5" per second with FPII and you won't use your PC again. The results IMO are much better. I noticed a brighter finish and better gloss as well. As far as holograms and trails go, I couldn't get them even when I tried to on soft black paint. How can you tell I'm lovin the rotary ;) .

I see your all over the rotary. Honestly I go back and forth, I have tried the finishing pad on my Hitachi many times also and like it but you know how it is each car takes a specific course. :grinno:

Do you found the roof porous?

Thanks mate.

I had a fear of this on one particular neglected allroad a year ago but all went well. Even on the neglected roof a I used Prime Strong followed by AJ and it looked excellent. In all honesty those are my favorite roofs to work on now. The paint is easy to work with and restore.

Then, I'll use Carlack68 Nano + Carlack Long Life Sealant (or Klasse SG, I'll take the decission).

Thanks mate for your appreciated help ;)

Guess I'll be the first to say it....topnotch work! :)

Audis can be so frustrating and rewarding at the same time. Tough to polish out correctly, but once you do, the paint looks amazing. ;)

:thx Thanks Scott, I complete so many Audi details that I think I have just gotten used to them. Although it was really nice to work on the lexus, I was amazed how easy the swirls were coming out that day

The roof has diferent paint. Take a look at this pic:

I was not sure about how to detail it because I didn't know if it is porous or not. I'll take the thickness value, but it hasn't clear coat.

Regards !!

WOW! Very impressive. I now have new goals for my '04 S4. Thanks for ruining my next 2 weekends. I was thinking of doing rotary work once a year and maintaining with my PC the rest of the year.

What brand of rotary and pads do you use? Do you follow a typical regimen (e.g., orange pad, OC at x rpm etc.) or is it just car specific depending on the condition?
