Detailing the new jet skis....

Alright well......recently we bought 2 brand new sea doo RXP jet skis......yes.....the ones with 215 hp:bow

ANYWAYS when we went to pick them up they said "we're gonna wax them really quick blah blah blah. I told them no and they said they HAD to. Anyway..when we got the boats to the water the horror i had thought before.....came true.

Wax wasn't properly buffed off......and of course......SWIRL marks.....ALL over. My thing is...would it be ok for me to strip what they have on there.....and maybe use some NXT or what should I do?

I wouldn't buy anything if they HAD to detail it first. Take it back, either they fix it...or you get a new one ;)

I just used Klasse AIO and SG on my two jetski's this past weekend. Left a great finish and protection should be better than a carnuaba in the salt water :up

well the thing with them HAVING to detail it first.....is because it was "included" in buying them.....i had refused...but since i was unable to stay.....they did so anyway.

as for the aio and sg.....since we're not going to be using these in salt water...you think nxt should be ok?

NXT doesn't last very long when it's on a car...Imagine how long it would last in constant water going high speeds :D

I would use Klasse or I know meguires makes a good boat polish/wax and I have perosnally used the starbrite with teflon that CMA sells and it does a good job....Have fun with them

I dont believe it is a jet ski ;) a jetski, you stand on :P

The real jetskis are standups. I own a sitdown for now(Im in the process of getting a standup).

Ill give you a warning xtremeracer on those rxps. Make sure you buy the extended warranty. Sea doo is having problems with the clutch in the supercharger as it is, and they will fail to warranty it after a year. That way, u wont be kicking yourself in the a$$ if your engine quits on you. Just a word of advice.

We own a stand up on and 4 sit down ones. The stand up one is alot more fun, since you can do more tricks!

Our boat ( 250 merc) can do more like 74 mph, and its awsome!

I have heard the same thing....

As for how to detail it. I detail mine the same way I detail my car. I use Poorboys products on mine and they seem to hold up well!

I use EX-P sealent and top it with 5 coats of Meguiars #26 My waverunner comes out of the water after every use and I usually only have the oppertunity to use it on weekends so after every other use I put another coat of # 26 on it....

When I use it in salt water (which is rare) I usually wash it down twice to ensure that all the salt is off!

I don't think its so much which products you use. As long as you continually maintain it you will be in good shape!

I have heard this is a good idea because when you wash it the first time the salt dissolves but is not completely washed away. The second wash actually wahses it away.

if i were you, i would go the meguiars website, because they have a whole line of marine products, and im guessing they are better suited for saltwater, plus the constant abuse as well. plus, they have a lot of stuff to read up on their site about that specifically... but either way id go back to the dealer and yell @ them just for not knowing what they are doing and ruining a brand new finish.
