wash with megs gold wash

OHC w/ white polishing pad via PC @5.5

FPII w/ white polishing pad via PC @5.5

poorboys ex-p w/ black finishing pad via PC @3

nattys blue by hand..

I've done about 15 of these, and on black I think you'll find this process will fall just a little short - You'll have a hard time getting FPII to completely remove the micro-marring (haze) left by Hyper Compound (you will really have to lay on the polisher to get FPII to do so, in which case it will not leave a clear surface). I don't know what intermediate polishes you have, but I recommend performing the process in three steps, like OHC, OP, then FPII. In any case, your last step has to be performed very VERY gently if you want the finish to be free of micro-marring (FPII is a good choice for this, second only to the Menzerna PO series polishes). Basically, I've done one black G35 and several black M35s, and I mostly used the rotary when I did...but in each case, I performed the last step with my PC and found that I had to use the softest pad available to me (white Propel), best finishing polish available (PO106FF), and could only apply light pressure to the PC, or otherwise I would degrade the finish and get a fairly noticable micro-marring (hundreds of short gashes caused by the abrasive particles on their initial DA pass/cut). This will be harder for you to see since you will not be going from the rotary (which generally leaves a better finish since it breaks the abrasives down better, and it doesn't leave micro-marring since the particles don't have to change directions and thus don't get gouged into the paint), but trust me...or ask Sullybob on this board, as he witnessed first hand exactly what I'm telling you when he came and apprenticed with me.
 
I agree with RAG to an extent. Normally I'd recommend an intermediate step between OHC and FPII; but I think you *may* be ok since you're going to use OHC on a white pad. It'll probably depend how anal you are. I could be wrong as I've not used OHC on a white pad on G35 paint. If it turns out after the first panel that you still have some micromarring after FPII/white (which you likely will), you can either try following the last step with FPII/finishing (grey), *or* do as RAG suggested and tru Opt Polish in between OHC and FPII, and switch to a grey pad.



RAG; let's march on Nissan HQ with pictures of micromarring. We need to demand better paint. :)
