Detailing Packages

A very simple way to convince your customers of the work and it's efforts is to make a before and after book with photos and customer letters..In todays age you can use a digital camera and set up yor own website!!..A happy customer will be more than glad to support you because they want you to be around!!....When I started in this business 30+ years ago nobody knew what detailing was.I was just a can of wax and a vacuum..The "me's" of the world paved the way for you so almost anyone on this earth has an idea of what a detailed car is...Pictures are really worth a thousand words....Save your energy for the cars and let the work speak for itself....

When I first started I used to find a car that really needed my work, told the customer that it would look better than showroom new when I finished and if they weren't 100% satisfied they didn't have to pay.....I never got stiffed and built a trade that in the middle 80's was charging $150+ for a full detail...I had 6 employees and was grossing over $200K a year..Today I just do they cars I want, mostly show, and charge $100+ an hour and have work lined up for 6 months!!....This type of work requires all the confidence in the world...You are an artist and no 2 artists are alike.Set yourself apart by your work and customer service, always give the customer 150% more than they pay for and you can enjoy a business that not only is a blast to do but where you can make killer money for doing what you love...Don't forget inside the gas cap!!!!!!........Neil Chadwick..Norfolk VA

I'm one step ahead of you. I am already in the process of building a website myself and once I get a few cars under my belt, I'll have the portfolio to back my words up.

I don't claim to be as good as many on here but I think I can add my 2 cents. I agree with NY Deatialer and Jesse Orosco on their comments. On my flyer/brochure that offers descriptions and prices I have made sure to put an asterik explaining that some over sized or highly neglected cars may cost more. That way no one is surprise when I tell them that their car cannot be simply washed and waxed and come out looking like my wifes car for simply $65. Secondly, as per advice on pricing I read on here when I first joined, I don't include Claying into a "package",but I do offer it alongside a package deal for additional fee.

I expect two types of customers....

1. The common person who just wants a decent looking car. They don't feel that clay and all the other "extra" are necessary. Although we know that isn't the case many times.

2. The person who knows how crucial any extra detail after washing but prior to waxing is to a car. This person would just rather have someone with better experiance do this for them. These people undertand the differance of a wash and detail.

Sorry for the length of this poat, started to get going.......:o

I would like to commend Neil Chadwick. One more person on here that I know I will learn from in time.

Oh and Neil :welcome

Thanks....My pleasure!!!!...It is essential in this business to share the tips of our craft and pass on what we have learned even if by mistake..The execution and degree of our own perfection is what will always make us unique..Don't ever worry about someone else copying you or trying to steal your tips...It's up to you to create your own value...99.9% of your customers will never know or care what you used to create the result..They will only care when they didn't get the best and had to pay paid for it!!!..Hoping all your shines are 10 ft. deep!!!
