Detailing Order

I got the first chance to use my Poorboy's products that i researched here in Detail City and ordered from Poorboy's World and Premium Auto Care. I got great service from both and being someone who always just used the average products bought at the local auto store i am super impressed with the way the Poorboy's products work.

I am curious as to what the order in which most of you detail is. I would like to prevent getting trim restore on the paint but seems almost impossible so should i do it first then work the paint or is there another method that works good. Do you vacuum first and clean the rest of the inside before you do the outside? I am almost asking for the best step by step process to detail a car to get the most out of a detail in the smallest amount of time.

Thanks everyone for the help and i look forward to being able to answer people's questions in a few months when i have some expierience.

I used the search feature on "detailing steps" & came up with 3 pages of threads..that might be a good place to start.

For me:
1. clean inside windows
2. clean and condition seats, dash, etc.
3. vacuum and clean carpets
4. clean engine
5. clean wheel wells, wheels and tires
6. wash vehicle
7. clay or chemically clean the paint
8. polish (remove defects)
9. apply sealant
10. apply engine and wheel well dressing
11. wipe off sealant
12. apply Trim Restore (dressing)
13. Wipe on tire dressing

I am sure I missed something and depending on the condition of the vehicle I may clean the inside while waiting on the sealant to dry. You need to try different ways and develop a process that works best for you.

to make it plain and simple I usually work from the inside out.
I usaully do the inside of the vehicle fully first. then the engine, and then exterior.

See the link in my sig for my steps. I pretty much go like this:

Wash
Clay
Polish
Seal
Wax

Somewhere in between those steps I do the glass and wheels/tires. The interior is usually in there somewhere too. My answer is a 5 page post. lol
