Actually, its wash, clay, wash again (maybe), polish, seal and then wax. That's about it.

Do search on the California Water Blade. It has mixed responses from Autopians. Some, like me, really like it. If used properly it can save a ton of time on drying. Others swear off it. It just depends on the car. I don't use it on my own car but I'll use it on a car that I'm just going to be polishing right after. If it is going to scratch the car then I won't have time to notice because the next step I take will be to clay and polish the car anyway. Read some of the reviews that others have written and then make your own choice. It may be perfect for you and it may be wrong. Its kinda up to you.

The water blade works great, i use it on every car i wash along with a mf.

What you need to realize with the water blade is, you must keep the blade wet & clean. never use a dry blade on the car. Wash it off real quick with soapy water, then dry the car with it. Dont try to get all the water off with the blade. what ever it leave behind use a MF to pick up.

As said, check out the ebook and use the search engine - it's a great help once you get the hang of it.

The "seal then wax" routine is optional of course. Some people only use sealant, while others only use wax. Both are perfectly fine.

One thing you'll have to decide is how much polishing your car needs, as it depends on its current condition. Brand new cars may not need any, and older neglected cars may need a lot. Use your judgement and pick a product accordingly. Hints on the ebook and CMA's site can help and offer some suggestions. Good luck!

I am a newbie here and don't know what wonder products have been discussed, sworn by, sworn at, etc... but as far as process I wash

clay

3M Hand Glaze

then whatever secret sauces you choose to feed the paint... in my case Zymol for my cars, Pinnacle for friends and family...

I have found that the 3M Imperial hand glaze does a great job of getting off any clay residue and removes fine fine marks...

getting off any clay residue

I hear about this "Clay residue" way too much in here....I cant say Ive ever experienced the alien myself.....

I got alot of residue with Meguiars clay bar but then I moved up to Mothers and I don't know if its just a better product or that I am better at claying now, but residue is rare for me.

Mother's produces a better clay bar over the Meguiar's offering. Meguiar's clay bar is not known for it's quality. Another readily available, quality clay bar is the Clay Magic bar (typically available at AutoZone stores).
