My neighbor told me that I could detail his old Porsche 911, I beleive its a Carrera 1 1979. It has been sitting in his garabe not driven and covered with a cloth car cover. I do not want to mess this car up and do not know what precautions to take since it has not been touched, washed, driven, waxed, in many years. Any suggestions?

thanks.

Sorry no one's chipped in yet - I'm supposed to help a friend polish a 1964 356 Carrera, and a 50's Allard!

Would have loved to hear any ideas.

I figured, depending upon how swirled (or not) the Carrera's paint, I'd just go as mild as possible. :nixweiss

What ever you finally decide to use you must test first in a small area. Maybe on the underneath area of a facia. See if any paint rubs off or discolors.

I would test IHG and then maybe S100 paste on top of the IHG.

Good Luck

Play in the suds and not in the sun... its safer on the paint!

What is IHG & S100 ? Thanks.

You should really tape off all the high spots, seams and other protruberances. The last thing you need is to buff the paint off down to primer on a 50 Allard.

I haven't detailed the car yet, it is for my neighbor who is always out of town, but I'll be sure to take pictures of the before and after. It may not be until the spring that I do this, but I will definately have some pictures !
