detailing newb: white paint.

Okay I've been reading autopia for just a couple days now, and I have learned alot, I ordered a sonus PC kit and it is in the mail currently. Most, actually all of this stuff you guys talk about is new to me, I was always an over the counter guy. It seems like a lot of you use the Klasse AIO before applying a final wax, or sealant as you guys call it. And it also seems like you guys recommend different final waxes/sealants for different color cars. I searched for posts about white cars but have come up with nothing. Would you guys think it is a waste using an expensive product on a white car because I won't have much depth anyways? if not, what type of final product should I be using, popular ones I have read about have been P21S, Natty's blue?, pinnacle souveran (spelling is probably way off), im' also curious about the Klasse high gloss sealant, and Zaino has come up alot in my searches. But if any of these stand out for use with light colored cars let me know, also let me know if that klasse AIO is a good cleaner/polish for my car. And feel free to give me any other advice you think I will find useful. thanks in advance

Well Yet another Scooby driver. Yes white is a bit of a challange but it is worth while. Whitemax is an expert with white. Anyways AIO is a goto cleaner polish and I use it on my silver Baja. it makes a great base. on top of that I'll be using UPP this winter it is reflective and easy to use. Zanio would be another choice for being reflective. As for wax pin sig, natty's white. something along that line..

I've use a few different products on white and to the best of my eye there's only a subtle difference. So I came to the conclusion of ease of use of product to be a great factor and cost of product for me to buy.

I would go with Zaino AIO tends to yellow when it gets old less so if you have a topper and white would show the yellowing more clearly. white can look just has good as any other color, doesn't make a difference what color the car is its 99% prep work what makes paint look great. You can have real good depth with white paint as same as any other paint color. I would think why dark colored car pic's are shown more then white is because white doesn't show up as good in photo's, my uneducated gauss. There is hundreds of colors of white, snow white, oxford white, cream white, pale white, yellow white (yuck) ect ect

i wish you guys didn't use abbreviations, i am a newb remember? I have no clue what you are talking about with those UPPs and LSPs...etc, sounds like some new drugs I haven't heard of yet. But anyways, thanks for the replys. If you guys say that it is all prep work, does that mean there are certain prep products I should be looking at, or is it all in technique? btw, my car has about a lil over a thousand miles on it now and I haven't found time to wash it yet, so when I do, should I clay bar the car since it is pretty dirty right now? I plan on ridding my car of swirls that came with it from the dealer, so i'm thinking I should clay it first to make sure there is no debris stuck to my car before I hit it with my PC.

The prep refers to polishes and cleaners. Get the paint perfectly clean and polished, and then it doesn't make a whole lot of difference as to which LSP you use. LSP refers to waxes and sealants, the product you use at the end of your detailing process.

I've got a bunch of pictures that you can look at and maybe base a purchase on. I'm at school and the pictures are on my home computer. I'll have to upload and post them when I get home this evening.

Some of my favorite combos for white:

GEPC + UPP + PG

AIO + UPP + PG

AIO + WG + Nattys

GEPC = P21S Gloss Enhancing Paintwork Cleanser

UPP = FourStar Ultimate Paint Protection

PG = Pinnacle Paste Glaz (carnauba wax)

AIO = Klasse All In One

WG = Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant

Nattys = Poorboy's Nattys Paste Wax

No I haven't. I've heard that before from other people on this site. I've never experienced that. With the results that it gives, I wouldn't have a problem with redoing the AIO/sealant/wax every few months if I had to. I redo the whole process twice a year as it is.

If you're afraid of AIO, go with GEPC. You'll see from the pictures when I post them later on, that both products make the paint look awesome, helped in part by the sealant and wax on top of them.

Alright I finally got around to posting the pics. I had to wash/QD the Protege you know!

Here's the Maxima with various combos.

You should be able to gather from these pics that there are lots of combos that will look great on any car. It's the minor differences that they each produce, and only you can decide which one looks the best to you.
