Detailing is a Rain Dance

How many times do you do your car and then the next morning you wake up and it is raining? Yesterday, I finish a round of golf a decide that it is time to wax. ONR the car (white volvo) and it looks very good. Drop a layer of NXT liquid on there and then finish it up with Megs #26. The car is shining like crazy. Do the wheels and tires. I am still stuck on Armor All Tire Extreme Gel. (i love the shine) Pull it into the garage. Wake up this morning and it is raining and must have poured last night. Now I dont want to even drive up to starbucks.

It happens.

I used to get mad about it but now i just dont care becuase i know that the rain will stop sooner or later and all i have to do is wash it and QD it and im good to go again.

Did the same thing to me, except that I parked outside so when I got up for work this morning the car was plastered in pine straw and leaves from the storm winds. I live in the Carolinas though so sometimes its hard to see a rain coming.

Back when I was young and in the Corps it used to really get me. I'd get up early Saturday and put 10-12 hours into detailing the entire car by hand, wide open blue skies without a single cloud in sight, go in the barracks to get cleaned up for a night on the town, and by time I stepped out of the shower it was pouring (and still cloudless which made it worse).

Oh well - about all you can do about weather is complain about it!

It is hard though to spend all that time and then have some little rain cause that dirty water spray all over. Just gott a deal with it though.

i try to look at the rain as an opperunity to challenge my LSP's ability to last. :bigups

besides, work will not accept me calling in sick because i cant drive my car out of fear of it getting dirty. :aww:

I love driving in the heavy rain after waxing. Peering out over the Mazda's bonnet & seeing it almost bone dry makes me smile.

Hey don't be too upset, some of us have to park outside 24/7, and after spending hours and hours detailing have to leave it there... ;) All that's important in my mind is that you got the protection on there..

Well two days ago this smart guy (yes me) decided I'd do my winter prep detail.

ONR, Clay Bar, Poli-seal on hood, trunk, and roof. It got dark so I was going to finish yesterday.

Well yesterday we had gusts of up to 70mph winds and my car sleeps under a carport. Sure enough everything that could be blown on to her was. That's what I get for trying to beat the news.

I had it rain 4 out of 5 times during a customers detail. They had to drive off in it, but it wasn't all bad. They were impressed by the beading and several called on the way home and said they didn't need the wipers on because the rain rolled right off.

It's been raining here for 5 days straight. The tire shine is gone from my tires, but my car still beads like the day I put the Werkstatt on, and that was a month ago.

throw a car cover on it overnite.

Bad idea. It's better to allow the water to roll off the car instead of trapping it against the car. You can be in for some premature rust that way. Believe me, one of my uncles did that with his cadillac, and now it's got rust in the corners of the doors.

Haha, like many others, I also enjoy looking at the water beading when it rains. Of course, I know that the rain is slowly wearing off my wax, but looking at the perfect water beads makes me happy again :)

 you don't want to go to Starbucks?

#26 should make your water bead like crazy as others have said and also you can get the "Christmas coffee" :D which is a must!

Beading is not a way of telling you the finish is protected. Paint will bead if you rub it with alcohol and remove everything from the paint. The reason for this is the surface tension of water. Most of Meguiars LSP's will cause the paint to "sheet" and not "bead." Ive heard #26 and NXT(mostly) will sheet more than they will bead.. :heelclick

I am so confused by which waxes sheet water, becuase after applicatoin they all seem to bead.
