Detailing goals for 2012

Ya know, I debated that one yesterday when UPPing the S8. I really *do* think it went faster by hand, what with having to get out the polisher and extension cord and then put 'em away afterwards.

But I do still prefer doing it by machine, including buffing off with MF bonnets, just didn't want to hassle around compared to grabbing the applicator and MFs and getting on with it.

With liquids it can be close, but nothing does the job better than the machine. For hard waxes, its machine all the way!

Yeah, even with "just LSPing" I can't get away from the idea of all those orbits-per-minute.

Agreed, though if we want to consider FK1000P a "wax" (yeah I know, but they do call it that ;) ) I'd say that I prefer to do that one by hand.

Ya know...it's a "soft" wax, but my all-time fave for by machine is #16, simply love how that works out.

Heh heh, oh no.... you'd kill that oh-so-fragile ss metallic...you wouldn't/couldn't resist trying to get it better than I can!

But seriously, yeah, if you were local to me we'd do it together and I'd gladly pay you to Vintage it, say...six coats or so. Heh heh, I wouldn't mind having you do the interior either, that's the part that'll really be a chore.

Trying to get it better then you is the easy part! :boxing: For whats its worth I can save patina when asked to, but very seldom do I get asked to. I get paid for gloss. :eyebrows: I'm not sure what is worse though, a fat guy doing interiors or your old bones. :thumb:

Seems like a lot of Pros are looking to increase their "networking". I know from networking, but I'm a little fuzzy on what it entails in this context. What do you guys mean exactly?

Barry Theal & Shiny Lil Detlr- That XJS would probably be a seats-out project anyhow, just easier to do that way.

Barry Theal- These ol' bones are still gettin' around better than some of you young 'uns :nana: Thought of that the other day when I was up/down countless times doing the undercarriage of the S8.

USA trip for whole summer for training purposes with at least one of the best in the country

Spend more time practicing the art of paint perfecting, More R & D, buy a flex xc3401, a rupes bigfoot, buff pro cylindrical polisher, an 850Watt DA from australia that lets me use any size backing plate I want,

Finish developing "ShOcKwAvE" product I've been working on for two years in USA and Austrlaia

co develop and bring to market some revolutionary products for tyres and paint - starting that shortly

my goal is to KISS. very few buffs, OS every other month in addition to the ONR/OCW wash combo when it needs it. my black GM paint takes very kindly to my washing process, so the less work i have to do on the car in 2012, the happier i am :) then again i'm not a pro, i'm just a guy that likes his car looking great with the least amount of effort possible.

Taking better care of myself. I had a 4 month period where I was so busy that I just about quit going to the gym. Back at it now and must make it a priority.

If I am just as busy next year as I was this year, I'd be very happy.

Market Market and Market my businesses. If I detail their car, tell them I can power wash and clean their glass. Vice versa too.

I'm really gonna push my volume wash and waxes. It just give me more customers talking about me and marketing for me.

  • Invest into some new equipment (Scissor lift, Steamer, Mytee...)
  • Try and limit work to 3 cars per month
