detailing for friends & neighbors

today i did my neighbors car a 2004 subaru dark gray and crazy flake in her paint. the condition of her paint was the worst i've ever seen for a car that new.

she had the car washed at the local car wash.
clayed with blue magic
WG swirl remover
WG sealant and WG spritz spit shined

when she ask how much i told her not to worry about it, she gave me a great big hug and insisted she pay me after going back and forth about the money she put a check in my pocket for $130.00 .

I've been doing a lot of neighborhood cars for free just to experiment with new products....but I have recently stopped unless I get a request and people pay for the chemicals.

I used to be REALLY cheap with friends and neighbors, but like Dave said, if they want their cars detailed, they're willing to pay for the work. I still don't charge a lot, $125 for neighbors, $100 for close friends. however, my sisters truck gets spiffed up anytime she wants for free, but she helps me out a LOT. I used to wash my brothers Sierra every weekend, but after he decided to be an @#$^$%^ I stopped. I've got one neighor who pays me $10 to wash he car, but they're strapped for money sometimes, so I don't really mind.

well today i finally finished up my neighbors car i spit shined with WG spritz and two coats of pinnacle and it was nice to see her happy but now she dosn't want to pull the car out of the garage.

it was this web site that taught me to use quality products and to do the work in the correct way, so Thanks to all of you for helping.

Dwayne,

thanks for having a place to go where so many people are willing to help. THE BEERS ON ME  .

Even though I only do this as a weekender/hobbiest, for me it kind of depends on not only who the person is but what the person does.

For example I have done computer repairs at a reduced rate for certain people because I believe in the barter sysytem. I have had plumbing, tree removal, hell even my mortgage done at either reduced or no cost just because, I was willing to do for them, and that doesn't take into account the referrals I have gotten from these people.

I don't always make what I should but I do seem to get it back in fold.

I have some requests from friends and neighbors. One of my best friends is a single mother and she gets a full detail on her 2003 Camry for $45.00 every 4 months. That is quite a bit less than I would normally charge. She knows that this is a discounted price and when she sends me referrals she doesn't tell the potential customer what I charge her. Also, my church has three full sized vans and I do a basic clean on one of the three every week. The basic clean consists of exterior wash, tire dressing, clean windows, vac. and light wipe down of interior. This has not brought in any referrals but the service goes along well with my tithing to my church.
