Detailing car with tons of animal hair. Need tips..

When using lint rollers, I have found the best technique is to drag it over the carpet and not roll it. I have also used the rubber brushes, rubber gloves, and even a lava stone (yes, it works!). I have never found anything that makes it easy!

Like others have said, find something that works for you and do the best you can. It all just takes time.

The rubber bristle brushes they sell for this aren't stiff enough but i have a glove that I bought at WalMart just to remove loose hair from my pet that works great. It's like a mitten (no fingers) and has stiff rubber bristles on the bottom. The trick is short quick strokes working your way in one direction. This generates static electricity which draws the hair to the glove. And if its imbedded deep, I recommend a foaming cleaner followed with the carpet brush that TOTL sells for the PC on a 6 speed followed by vacuum.

Most of the suggestions here are more than ample to get the job done.

The key with pet hair is to be patient and persistent. You can get it all, just stick with it and make sure that you check everywhere. If you miss someplace that hair can easily spread to other parts of the car and make your hard work all for not.

Ok... this may sound rediculous, but if you have any kind of dog allergies be CAREFUL!! I have very slight dog and cat alergies, but one time I was cleaning out a subaru hatchback that had so much dog hair in it I couldnt tell what the original carpet color was.. (beige hair on black carpet). I spent an hour between hands and a rubber hair brush and got one panel of the rear compartment done when my eyes started to swell shut. All that exposure turned my very small alergies into a frantic search for benadryl. I had to have the new kid finish up (it took 2 days). Now, I personally charge outrageuos fees for pet hair removal, I would just as soon give guests who take so little pride in their vehicles to my competitors.

Anytime you are confined to the interior working with carpet you should use a mouth and nose mask to avoid exposure to chemicals and allergens that you may stir up from the carpet. I had my lungs burned by breathing too much prep spray when I worked at a FS carwash and I will always use protection after that experience. And don't make any exceptions, cause you can't always see the fumes or dust in the air.
