Step 1 - I used the 3D HD Nano Prep Towel for the first time on the Audi. I was horrified to see 3 smudges from the towel(the rubberized coating had been transferred to the paint) on the flat portion of the hood. Plus, several places where the metal bends, like an edge, I saw several black lines.
I was polishing with the new Lake Country Micro Fiber Pads & 3D HD UNO. On the flat portions, the black smudges went away immediately. I didn’t try very hard on the edges, since they were not noticeable(I didn’t see them until I put on the first coat of 3D HD POXY).
When the directions say “no pressure”, they mean it. I think my enthusiasm for the Towel and the baggie test pushed me to go over several areas several times, plus not being careful enough at the edges.
Step 2 - I did a polish pass at 5.5 on the Porter Cable , Lake Country Micro Fiber Pads, 3D HD UNO polish, followed up with a clean Micro Fiber Towel with 50% Isopropyl Alcohol sprayed onto the paint, then dried.
Step 3 - I did a finishing pass with the PC at 4.0, LC MF Pads, 3D HD UNO polish and just buffed out the paint with a clean MF Towel.
Step 4 - 3D HD POXY applied with a PC set at 3.5, LC Red Finishing Pad. Wiped it off after 2.5 hours.
Step 5 - The next morning, I hand applied 3D HD POXY a 2nd time, letting it set for about 3-4 hours before hand buffing it out.
Last Step: Apply Griot’s Glass Sealer & buff out.
