Detailing a 25' Rinker 250 Fiesta Vee Cabin Cruiser

I have a customer who contacted me about having his 1990 25' Rinker 250 Fiesta Vee Cabin Cruiser detailed. He wants to get the Hull compounded, waxed and he wants the carpets shampooed. He is looking to sell the boat, so he needs it clean and shiny.

I have not seen the boat yet, but I can only imagine that it needs a lot of work. I have never detailed a boat before, and I don't know what to expect. What am I getting myself into, and how much should I charge him. I normally only do cars...

Thanks

Depending on the condition of the gel coat, it can be a quick or LONG job. In some cases when it is extremely weathered and chaulked, only marginal improvements can be made with great efforts. If the boat is white, it will not look AS bad, and as long as it is clean, most people will be satisfied. On colored hulls, if the fading is bad you might not be able to revive it. I would take a look first before quoting any pricing.

Ok well if the condition is good to bad, what is a round about price I should tell my customer. He wants me to come take a look at the boat as soon as possible because he will be selling it

Thanks

For a basic detail which includes cleaning the boat inside/outside, shampoo the carpets, clean/treat the vinyl, shine the chrome, and light compound/polish/wax the boat. I get $425 for that size, but would add on a couple of hundred to compound. Hope this helps.

bear in mind that 25' is a decent sized boat, and it has a deep V hull. Make sure that it is out of the water, and if on a tandem trailer their will be some obstacles to contend with. The entire hull, transom, top of the cabin, etc., that's a lot of fiberglass to clean. See how bad that waterline is too. You can tell a freshwater boatline from one that is in salt or brackish water.

I would throw a really high number at him and see what he thinks. Of course you stand the risk of him accepting your high number, and then you have to deliver.

Good Luck!
