Detailer in Ontario, Canada!

Cool. Maybe we can pick a Sunday later in August like the 15th or the 22nd. How would either of those be with everyone? I was thinking we could do some demonstrations (high speed polishing, wet sanding, washing, chemical usage etc..) and what not early in the day, everyone could get their cars in and get them detailed and maybe a BBQ or we could go to a great restaurant across the street from the shop called Rockwaters (25 different beer on tap - yummy). If anyone else has anything else they would like to see we can make it happen and hopefully everyone has fun. I may even be able to round up some prizes and goodies from some of my suppliers!

I can get my hands on prizes and such too i would assume, hell just invite the supplier to come out and do some advertising ;)

I will bring up my rotary, PC, a large compressor, and if you really want to do wetsanding, i can bring all of my 3m papers, but ehhh... I hate trying to teach people how to sand, because i would feel horrible if they mess up their finish!

ShineShop, if you need any help, or want any thing, feel free to PM me, I have hosted classes and Detail days in the past, and have alot of feedback and information that i can share with you.

Mike

If we do hold this at my shop I have pretty much everything we'll need (3 Makita HS polishers, 2 Porter Cables, compressor, 3 Rigid wet/dry vacuums, hot water extractor, 2000psi industrial pressure washer, standox paint station, all wet sanding supplies, full compliment of Autoglym compounds and any chemical we will need). If anyone has anything they want to bring of their own that they feel more comfortable working with then by all means bring it! TPGSR I actually grew up in Fort Erie (late 70's early 80's) so I know Buffalo and the area pretty well! If you can score some prizes to bring that would be cool because I would like for everyone that comes to walk away with somthing to take home.

Any Date will be fine with me!

And I too, would be willing to supply any Supplies/Gifts that would be needed!

If there is any topic to be taught. I will be willing to float around and offer tips and advise as well as do some learning myself!

I'm excited for this day!

Well I am game for the 15th of August if we are going to do this. Everyone who wants to come please speak up and we'll get a list together of who is coming. It should be fun and very educational.

I'm game for the 22nd, unfornately I've got a boat cruise to attend on the 15th, so I'd be a no show for that date. :sosad

I can probably do it that day too. Depends on what the consensus is from the masses. Let's hear which Sunday is better for everyone.

How about we say the 22nd then? Everyone that wants to come down is welcome and bring anything you would like to use on your car or we can use my products and equipment. Please post anything you would like to have covered for demos and we should get a list together of who will be attending. Shall we say 11 am or 12 noon to get started? I will post detailed instruction on how to get to the shop when we get a little closer to the date.

So - who's coming and who's not?

Scott, what products do you use at your shop? I tried PM'ing you recently about carrying some of the products we are a distributor for but your PM box is full. I also tried emailing you, is phone the best way to contact you?

E-mail is usually best for me. Try me at [email protected]

These go directly to my blackberry and I can usually reply within a few minutes of getting the e-mail no matter where I am .

Please count me in!

I'm looking forward to anything new that I can be shown or improved upon from my detailing peers!

There is always something new to learn, or a little tip or trick, and hopefully I have a few for you all as well!

I'm in for the 22nd.

I would like to learn how to speed up every step I do. e.g. I recently did a Honda CRV for a buddy. The paint was in fairly bad shape...lots of deep swirls. Took me 16 friggin hours. I did:

Washed wheels

Washed/dried

Obligatory photos

Taped

Rust removal from 4 spots

Clayed

DACP'd all but roof (DA)

#9 on all but roof (DA)

#80 on roof (DA)

NXT (hand)

#16 x 2 coats (hand)

Cleaned windows inside and out

Meg Endurance on tires

Was a lot of work and the vehicle was larger than a normal car but still.....16 friggin hours!! ugh

Vehicle looked great but I'd like to learn to do each of those steps much more quickly.
