hahaha sorry when i get bored i do stupid things like this:



materials:

CG one waterless wash

CG ezyme wax

CG blitz spray sealant



this is you standard fair fender stratocaster that i'm giving to my 15 year old son for xmas. but it did look a bit rough so i decided to clean it up, wax it and seal it. no swirls were present but i did manage to scratch it. doh

Looks nice. I just detailed my black Stratocaster with good results. I wouldn't worry about paint correction as mentioned above. A 15 year old boy will likely be handling this a lot, and not always carefully. Not much point in polishing out scratches on something that will be immediately rubbed against belt buckles and leaned up against walls. Regular dusting with a microfiber cloth will keep it looking nice. I like the chrome pickguard. If you ever decide to polish, remember to remove the strings and treat the fretboard with some pledge. You should get about a year before you need to go all out again. Being kept exclusively indoors will help the wax and sealant stay on for quite awhile.
 
My son has asked me to polish his, but i was not sure ow the auto product woud bond and did not want to mess it up. Thanks for ther confidence you just gave me!



His is blue, with the white inlay. The chrome looks beast!
 
thanks guys. he gets it tonight. i got a box of an acoustical guitar that i am putting this in. one of those cheap kmart type guitars. he has no idea hehehe
 
Very cool. I have a black 72 Strat that I got for a steal from Ebay a few years ago and I don't play well at all but it's increased in value quite a bit. Kinda cool.
 
I would not use pledge on the neck. Get some good quality lemon oil, and hit it about once every two weeks. Also a heads up for your son to make the strings last longer, use a string cleaner or Deoxit on a towel, and wipe the strings after a long session of playing. It'll get any kind of oils and sweat off them so they don't corrode. I've found that any wax or sealant that doesn't have a cleaner in it will work great to protect the finish. Also Klasse AIO works great to clean them before application.



I do this for guitars and basses all the time, along with the drum kits I work on. Hell the one I'm responsible for right now ( I work for Disturbed (Grammy nominated this year!)) was painted by Nub from Nub Graffix and American Chopper. I'll post pics when I get them. Seems Pearl has taken them down from their site.

thanks for the heads up. i will look into the lemon oil. where can i pick some up?
