Some major scratches didnt come out :( but they were all through the paint.

I love the looks of the CLS500! My wife doesn't care for them though... Great work, this one is a stunner minus the tacky chrome wheels.

Thanks, this guy is a repeat customer and its his daily driver and has an AMG bodykit I believe. He has a NSX I will be doing in the spring so keep an eye out.

Man that car was abused. In all fairness its hard to take care of a black car in this area. Nice turn around

By the way there is no AMG bodykit on that car, thats a stock cls 500 with and AMG badge slapped on, for some reason a lot of people do this in the NY area and I don't know why because it doesn't fool a lot of people in the know :)

I hope you don't get too offended by what I'm about to say, BUUUUUT....

You have tons of pics before showing swirls in direct sunlight but absolutely not even one pic after with direct sunlight and I find it extremely hard to believe that you removed the swirls on a new (hard) MB clear coat with just a two step porter cable process. That would at least be a 2-3 step process with a rotary let alone a PC.

It's not a true AMG either, no body kit, rims would say AMG as well as exhaust tips.

The car looks good don't get me wrong, but you make it look as if you removed the swirls and there is just really no evidence to back that up.

Sorry for being so harsh, hope you don't hate me.:aww:

Im not offended, everyone is entitled to their opinion and I get where you are coming from. You are right though, I cant really prove but with the one pic from the hood. I have pics from his friends STS that is also black that used the same process if you need proof of myself being capable of swirl removal. I will remember to take pics from every process next time I get a decent job. I do more reading and looking then posting around here since I am new to this forum.

who does he think he is fooling?

the brake rotors on a real AMG are bigger than the wheels on that thing

nice improvement

A caddy STS and a newer Mercedes have very different clear coats, and there's really no "one size fits all" type of process for any two cars, even if they're the same make, model and year, they will still more then likely take a slightly different process to do correction depending on the condition of the vehicle.

Unless you're using products that have fillers in them a PC will really not do a great job at removing swirls 100%, at best it may cut them down 50-70% on most cars even if you spend all day using a lot of pressure too.

Try using 500W+ hologens to take before and after pics with, they show you everything and are a decient tester when it comes to viewing swirls and such before and after.

Again, I don't mean to insult your work, sorry.

Josh

Funny Josh, I was going to ask the same question regarding the Porter Cable usage since MB supposedly has rock hard clearcoats...

Ok, Ill remember to take more detailed pics for my next post which should be soon. I have a Halogen light btw too. Off topic which Rotary you recommend? Im leaning towards Makita.

UDM can, but it takes some serious time. Last black AMG S55 I did required 5 hours of polishing and I only got around 90% of the defects out.

=============

The car definitely looks a lot better but I've found that the rotary is really the only way to go on harder paints.

You can see this was a tough clear, Look at the micro-marring in the after picture. Certainly not a UDM or PC car like Scottwax said.

Good job on the clean up but this is proof positive that money doesn't equal taste. Those rims are horrible knock-offs and the AMG badge is a joke.

I'd love to have a CLS though... One of my all time favorite cars.
