Detailed Elegance - 2011 Silver Porsche Cayenne

Hi All!



Well, I live in New Hampshire and you can imagine the road salt and what not they throw down around here. Now my problem, it really warmed up around here the past couple of day's so today I headed out and gave my 2001 F-250 a good bath, after I cleaned her I noticed what looks like rust spots that are mainly on the bottom of the panels, they are small but noticable, I have been using Zano products since it was new (which is only 8 months ago) can I be rusting already?? what can I do? should I use clay bar?? any of your help will be greatly appreciated...........:(
 
since they are somewhat new, claying or a polish would remove them. You should however remove them before you apply more wax so you don't "seal" them in.



Since you're a Zaino user, I would clay. But if you're a Klasser, AIO or PPCL would work along with clay to solve this problem. It's acutally one of the easier problems to solve, since the Zaino you have put down, should protect your car from keeping that stuff from infiltrating into your paint.

It's not brake filings I dont think, cause it's on both sides and now I see it up highter on the door, it's possible...... but

They are various metal particles that have flung onto your paint and have oxidized. you can get them from normal driving off other cars and the surrounding environment, not necessarily from just your car.
 
One of my regular customers wanted me to wash and spruce up his 2009 Porsche 911, and his 2011 silver Cayenne and then seal them. I have already worked on the 911, and the Cayenne has never been done before. I explained to him that the Cayenne should be clayed before I seal it. He agreed to the extra charge, and I arrived this morning at his house.

Unfortunately, since the 911 was kept up so well, I assumed the Cayenne would be as well. Not so fast. It was a mess (inside and out).

Here is what I did:
ONR wash 2BM
Wheels - P21S Gel w/ various brushes
Clay Bar - Blackfire Poly Clay w/ ONR as lube
Tires and wells - Purple Power
Tire Dressing - Surf City Garage Beyond Black
Exterior Trim - Surf City Garage Beyond Black
Windows (interior and exterior) - Megs D120
LSP - Optimum Opti-Seal
Windows Sealed - Optimum Opti-Seal
Wheels Sealed - Optimum Opti-Seal
All interior cleaned with Megs APC+ (Thanks Jon from PAR Detailing)
Interior Vacuumed

Just beautifu work on a very dirty Cayenne ! I think the interior was worse than the outside ! :biggrin:

Your hard work and attention to detail made this mess into a beautiful Porsche again !

It must have been hard to resist the urge to "correct the paint", eh ? :)

Hard to tell how well the Opti-Seal worked on Silver paint, but I am sure it was 100% better than the original finish - holy cow ! - that Claybar was trashed !

Beautiful job on every part of this detail Barry ! I am so proud of you all the time !!! :clap:

Thanks Dan. I always appreciate your comments, and words of encouragement.

You are right, the interior was a real mess. I just don't know how someone owns a vehicle like this and trashes ine interior with cigarette ashes.

The paint really didn't need too much correction. It is still a very new car. I think by the spring I will do a full correction on both his cars.

The Opti-Seal worked very well. It has a nice look on silver paint. It looks better the next day though. I would have liked to apply BFWD, but he wasn't paying for that. I was very surprised to see how much contaminants come off with the clay.

Barry - top job on the interior! Too bad the owner doesn't have a clue on maintaining such a nice car :banghead::banghead::banghead:

If you get the chance to do the seats with either LM or Leatherique, that will be one I will read carefully.

Thanks Harry. He actually does have a clue how to maintain a car. He keeps his 911 looking great, and doesn't smoke in that car. It's just this one.:out:

I would have looked at that and expected the wash process to take almolst two hours.

It does look like I clayed before washing doesn't it? I really was quite surprised to see how bad it was.

Actually I only use it for this customer. He has requested it in the past, and wanted a quick LSP after the wash, and since there is nothing quicker then Opti-Seal, Bazinga!!!!
If I was able to have the car for a few days, I would normally use BFWD.

The wheels took me over an hour to complete. They were trashed. The whole process took me about 3 hours and about 1.5 hrs on the 911. The Cayenne really is much bigger then it looks.

I tell you Mo, I really like this one. I think the exterior looks classy and sporty at the same time, and the interior is sooooo beautiful (after it is all cleaned up of course).
 
Sure looked a lot better after you were done with it. Funny how someone can care for one nice car and crap all over another.
