The owner of this cool car was a teacher of mine and currently teaches my son. She lost her husband last year and decided to buy the car they both wanted forever. They even had a similar own when they were first married back in the 60's. I've been just washing/vacuuming over the last months and she finally decided to have it fully detailed with winter coming up. The top needed to be cleaned too. Sorry if the pics aren't up to par. It was getting late and I was running out of light.

There's a little of an experiment going on here so read on.....

Start Time:

2:30pm

End Time:

6:00pm

Payment:

200.00

Meguiar's NXT Car Wash with 1 teaspoon of Dawn per gallon

(Used wash ShMitt and 2 gallons of water)

Optimum's New Formula Polish and Poli-Seal Combo

(EDGE2K Orange Polishing Pad at a #5 PC setting)

This is the experiment I was talking about. I'm looking for the best one-step product found (or made). After seeing what Poli-Seal can do by itself, why not try to make it better? I place several dime sized drops of OPS and of OP onto my pad. It went on very smooth and cleaned up quick. I varied the amounts but came to this ratio.....25% Polish and 75% Poli-Seal. I'll be mixing up a sample bottle after this to try on others. The car had minimal swirling and the combo did away with them while cleaning as well. The big thing will be the durability. I told the customer what I was doing and let her know that I would re-seal if needed. I bet I don't have too!

Here's my pad with combo....

Meguiar's Detailer Line Leather Cleaner/Conditioner

(Applied with MF applicator to all leather including door inserts)

Meguiar's Detailer Line Wheel Brightner

(4:1 and took 2 coats on these cast wheels. Used wheel ShMitt and rubber gloves)

DP's Wheel Glaze

(Applied with MF applicator. Was amazed at what still came off.)

Armor All Tire Foam

(Applied while wet, let sit for 2 minutes and wiped clean with MF mitt)

(Also used on the engine. Sprayed on wet motor, closed hood, and let run for 15 mins. Came back and wiped down with MF mitt.)

Armor All Tire Gell

(Not shown. Was running out of light for pics)

303 Convertible Top Cleaner

(Amazing stuff. Spray on the wet top and scrubbed with my wheel ShMitt. I'm buying more!)

Stoner's Invisible Glass

Duragloss Aborb-It!

(Customer is a heavy smoker but it did way with it. This stuff is so good.)

Whewwwww!

Looks great!

I always like how you write out your process pictures!

Thanks for sharing! :)

No, thank you!

I just don't want my posts looking like everyone elses I guess. I just feel that it's easier to follow. Thanks again!!

Great job yet again Justin. I notice that you are using the Poli Seal quite a bit lately. I have used it on about 20 cars now and I'm loving it. Great product!

How are you applying it.....rotary, pc, or cyclo?

How much are you using per panel?

I'm really loving this stuff!!!

Thanks guys for the compliments!

I too love the red interior!!!

I've used it with the pc and rotary. I've used it with light cutting and polishing pads. Both finish off great. Only using about a nickel sized dot per panel.

Then, as with all of Optimum's stuff, I'm probably using way to much.

What the larget defects that you have removed with OPS alone?

Hows the durability?

Are you using the WOWO method or allowing to haze?

Hope I'm not asking to much but I love this stuff!

Justin-I've only used it for medium to light swirls. I was pretty suprised on how well it worked. I have used the Optimum Compound and actually finished it off with the Poli Seal. In my opinion the PS finishes like the OP.

As far as durability, it is still beading awesome after about 10+ weeks. David (owner of Optimum) gave me some samples to try out a couple months before it was actually released. I've been using it quite a bit. According to David it is supposed to last for around 4 months.

When I'm putting it on with a pc or rotary it gets almost clear. I've been doing the whole side of a vehicle and then buffing off. A little bit does go a long way. I really like how slick it leaves the finish. It also smells good too!

I too love the slick feel. I doesn't have the soft feel of a carnauba but man, it's just a clean look and feel! I can't wait to wash one after using this. I bet it will be so easy.

I too like the smell.

Can you think of any problems that I might get from mixing the PS and OP together? What would you think about mixing it with OHC or OC?

I have never thought about mixing the PS with OP or OC. I might have to give that a try!

I really don't think it needs mixed with the OP because from what I've tried it finishes off at just like the OP. Now it might work with the OC.

Have you tried the new formula of the Opt Hyper Compound yet? Do you use a rotary that much? I don't even use the OC now. I mix the HC with the OP to make my OC. I'm really liking the Hyper now too. I've got a couple body shops here to switch over to it. It has a lot more bite than the previous formula. I've even been able to finish with the OC after using it. Great product too. I've been really happy how Optimum has been stepping their products up. They have been getting really popular lately too.

Now isn't the new OHC made for rotaries only?

I'm glad they stepped up too but wasn't the original formula awesome too!?!?!

I used some of the older HC and it finished down so nice with my PC. I was able to work it FOREVER! I keep forgetting that the prices are for a quart and not 16oz.!

I have used it about 3 times with the pc. It actually works really well. David wanted me to try it out with the pc as most of the original testing was done at body shops with a rotary. The new OHC was actually geared towards body shops.

To me it works just fine with the pc. You can work it for a long time. The pad does cake up pretty quick.
