Detailed 06 Dodge Viper Coupe

Beautiful car. I love detailing this Viper, it was brand new with only 191 miles on the odometer.



It was pretty clean when I got there and we I was doing my "new car" process on it.



Process:



ONR wash

Interior dusted, 303 wipe and Lexol Condition on Leather

Engine bay 303 wipe down

Rims Dirtex cleaner

(baggie test determined no claybar needed)

Z5+ZFX

Z6

Z2+ZFX

Z8

ZCS





All pics are just after first coat of Z5 and it was horribly overcast so the pics don't show the true shine that was on the Viper.

I'm still learning how to use the ZCS, but I thought it was meant to dry clear and not be wiped down afterwards??



Even after 30-40 minutes there was still some smeary haze from the ZCS so I'm assuming it would have dried by morning???

Let me clarify.



In your case on this detail, I would of went



final coat of Z2pro

Z6 wipedown

ZCS

Z8



Was this your first time using Clear Seal? If so I'm thinking that like me you used a little bit too much, that is why it did not "dry" in 30 mins or so. Once you get the hang of the proper amount to use and depending on humidity, most of it should be dry in 15 mins or so. I still usually end up with a few "high spots" that are gone in under 30 mins.

Yes, first time, I used it pretty light, only one shot per each side of top and 1 1/2 shots per side of hood and one shot per side panel. Maybe it just didn't spread well overtop the Z8?? I left about 35 min. after I put it on so it may not have had time to dry completely, it was pretty humid and overcast out.

Josh, From what I read using ZCS over a fresh coat of Z8 is not recommended. The amount you sprayed per panel sounds about right. On a vette I usually do 1 spritz in a sweeping motion for each side of the hood, fender/nose horz panels. I also usually work it 3 times back/forth on each panel.

thanks, I think the Z8 was my issue then, I know SalZaino told me there was a slight learning curve to it.....he wasn't foolin.:think: :lol
 
Those cars pump me up to no end!! I love those things!! I have never been a big fan of Dodge Blue though......it has always reminded me of a color you would paint a model......I don't know........:confused: The stripes do a nice job of breaking it up though....great looking car and good job on the detail!!
 
Excellent job, Josh. :)



I've found that Clear Seal is a breeze to use if you lightly work it in to make sure there are no thick spots.
