hello Autopians

i have a question that was not answered when i researched this subject thru all the old forums. i have a black truck which i keep in real good condition using all the menzerna products every eight to ten weeks. i also use P21S every couple of weeks just to have something to do. yet each day i find it necessary to use a quick detail spray to get my vehicle to look the way i want it to. OK, here is the question.... is it alright to use detail spray everyday? am i taking away from the other products that i use? i am careful to use my CCD and clean MF towels each time that i do this. it looks so good every time i do it. my wife thinks that i am crazy. well Autopians...... am i....?

You're not too crazy. I personally do not QD every day, but I'm pretty sure it does not hurt the paint, but maybe someone with more experience will chime in.

I don't think you're crazy and I can't see why QDing your vehicle everyday would be bad. Just make sure you're using a QD that works very well with Menzerna or P21s...such as Zaino Z6 or Eimann Fabrik QD...

I have a 5 year old BMW and I use a product that is a waterless wash to clean the car almost daily. I start with a CA duster to remove the bulk of dust, then waterless wash and follow up with QD spray. Since you are waxing quite often I would not worry about what you are taking off.

If you are interested in the waterless wash PM me and I will send you the link.

I also use a Cal Car Duster followed by QD. It's is probably the easiest way to maintain a good shine. If anything, it is keeping contaminants off your wax and may actually even help the wax last longer. if you're waxing regularly anyway, you really have nothing to worry about. You're just being an obesessed detailer. Isn't that why we're all here?

I dont find QDing everyday to be problematic but on a black car I would be extremly carefull. Make sure everything is clean, like your microfibers and your paint surface. Using qd ona black car to clean off road grime, bugs and other contaminents can be helpful but becarefull not to "scrub" because you will mar the surface and as you know black shows everything.

thanks. i needed that since my wife thinks that i am taking away from her quality time. even though i do this, most of the time, when she is alseep early in the morning.

Well CW, I know I CA Dust and QD my trucks everyday that I drive them (everyday) and they stay pretty good. Since I have joined Autopia I can't stand a dusty car

I use a CCD daily and then Z6 QD where necessary to get the finish quality up. I'm always a bit concerned about using QD on a dusty car for fear of micro-marring. So, I'm very careful about application.

Currently I have two cars with Z5 and one with Menzerna FMJ. I THINK that Z6 works well with FMJ. I.e., it improves the shine and slickness. However, I'm not pleased the FMJ's durability. I'm not sure if the combination of Z6 and FMJ is the cause, or if it's just that FMJ's durability is not as good as I'd like.

Note that I've see NO durability problems when using Z6 with Z5.

Regards,

Dan.

i have to admit that i have some reservations about the durability of menzerna. yet, because i detail my vehicle so often i do not care about the lenght of time it lasts. i am sold on it because it works on the truck with ease. easy on and easyoff. there is hardly any dust and it does not get into the cracks of the vehicle so as to not be able to get it off. if i were to have a complaint about any menzerna product is that FMJ stains all the pads that i have used. it just does not seem to wash out. the shine and the seek slickness is all i need to be happy. at this time. i know that i will be looking and reading for something that is better.

Your not crazy at all, I use sonus carnuba spritz and I use it many times a week. It lengthens(I think that is spelled corectly) the life of the wax and gives it added depth.
