Holes, Oil Leaks, Dents, Engine Noises - and crappy clearcoat.
I love Holdens warm Devil Yellow, but the paint quality is rubbish and doesn't hold up to Aussie Conditions very well. Not all colours just Red & Yellow.
This was an easy but time consuming job.
The paint had holograms and minor swirling as usual:
It was oxidised and peculiarly vague. It had no shine, the shiny areas were cloudy and vague, here's an example:
To make it even worse, the car was covered in concrete, mostlt tiny dots, but some big drops like these two:
After a very thorough hot water wash and lots of hand picking at the concrete to remove as much as possible, I broke a Clay Bar (Clay Magic Blue)
into aboout 12 peices. Each peice dedicated to claying a panel (or a section of large panels such as the roof, bonnet and quarter panels). After their section each peice was discarded to ensure the grit in the clay from the cement wasn't passed around the car further inducing scratches.
The process took about 1 hour.
Then another hot wash to ensure it was completely contaminant free.
Then onto the polishing using Menzerna Powergloss on Yellow Edge 8" Waffle & Menzerna Intensive Polish (PO91L) on Blue Edge 8" Waffle. PO91L is a breeze to use, it is a little slingy though on the Waffle pads and masking was very important.
Customer only wanted a Stage 2, so I stopped there. Vehicle was re-washed, dried with a WWDT and 2 x Z2pro enabled with Zfx was applied as the LSP. I like what the Zaino does in terms of colour depth for yellow.
Most of the colour though was from preperation, the polishing removing the oxidised clearcoat and returning a shiny surface.
Some paint can be seen in the pad:
All in all, was a great return to it's showroom appearance.
The Interior was quickly vacuumed and the plastics were wiped down with a damp Super Soft Microfibre & GPC, Interior Trim which was Piano Black was dressed with OCW on an Ultra Soft Microfibre Cloth.
Total Time: 6 hours
