detail doctor

i saw the commercial for it today on tv. what i found a little funny was when he wiped it into a very dull/oxidized red truck lol.

Being new to detailing I would like to know about products like this stuff. Do they work, is it a scam, what are the drawbacks.

Well, I recon everybody is still falling for the snake oil, smoke and mirror tricks. There's a sucker taken every minute

I'm always leery of any car care product that states "one application is all that needed" "once a year" " as seen on TV" they all scream scam to me. If you looking for a good trim restore product..Poorboys World Trim Restore is my go to for these applications

"The Count" has credibility?...... I guess I missed the news flash.

I'm not saying this is the case here, but $$$ has a lot to do with endorsements. Is there someplace on that site that hyper links to The Counts endorsement? I don't see anything pointing to that, just his picture but no link or text for that matter.

Nufinish is one of those products, and it actually works well! Although, I don't know about the once per year they advertise...

He's in their ad videos. I think that's a better endorsement than a link or text lol

I don't see an ad or video link?

when you click on the link in the OP, you get to the homepage of the product. In the top right, there is a little square that is playing video. It runs automatically. He's in there.

I swear that video was not playing the first time I visited that page this AM. Maybe the flash app didn't pick it up

sure sure, blame it on the flash app ;) :D

Even with the endorsement of The Count, I think we as hobby detailers or pro's can agree that these miracle products are a more smoke and mirrors. If you look at NuFinish its a good product but it's much like Klasse AIO, a cleaner that makes the paint clean but is that protecting it? not really. These wipe on plastic conditioners like this one fall into the same boat with me. If you look at the fine print they sell you 4 OZ but give you twice that with the order, why? because your going to need more applications.

I had mid 90's Nissan Sentra that had really well abused plastic bumper, dirt embedded with oxidation and water marks, just nasty. After some time of cleaning I start using two products one was Bumper coat by P&S Sales it's a real thick oil type dressing that I applied many times over a few weeks to get the bumpers to a consistence color again. Then I used PB TR to maintain it and they looked great but required regular applications to keep them looking that way

You don't have to convince me that detail doctor is 99.99999% likely to be junk. :lol2:

I have some trim myself that needs some loving... First need to clean out the stupid stains off of it though!
