Detail and Multiple Product Review

It sounds like the German brand Sonax wheel cleaner formula had to be formulated to be a high performer due to the demands of cleaning the often infamous bad brake dusting of German brake pads. Good product to have in one's arsenal when really neglected German wheels come your way.

Thanks for your comments. And I really appreciate the Sonax spelling correction. I'm sure that's important to you. I have the Sonax container and formula here in front of me now and it was obviously a silly error. It's actually Sonax Extreme.

It's not important to me to correct your spelling, it's important to be sure we're all talking about the same product. I mean, a few letters here or there and we could be talking about Sonus, or Sonax, or Sonex. Just like a few atoms here or there can make a big difference to a molecule, right?

Made me smile. :)

Setec..Good Point.. Lots of marketers often take liberties when naming their products to intentionally confuse the buyer. There certianly are more products out there than I am aware of an a few misplaced letters could get the wrong product in your hands. Thanks

I'm liking this forum more than others I have been on. Seems like there are more detailers interested in doing, and using the best products and less concern about "outdoing" a fellow poster. Some sites I have been involved with have more in fighting between members rather than objective commentary. Keep the info flowing!

To the poster that mentioned the German Sonax being developed to remove the brake dust from those German brake pads; that is one half of the story and you were correct on that. It was also developed because of the extensive search for a safer chemical than Hydrofluoric Acid that would be effective and not have to utilize other acids or highly caustic materials. This type of wheel cleaner has a near neutral pH. Just smells a bit :-)

I went to a ricer, I mean import event this weekend to get some baseline trap speeds before putting the GT30R turbo on the car and my unwashed white car had more gloss and depth than a bunch of the cars in the "show" section of the event. It was cloudy so many more paint defects were hidden from these cars. In reality the overall paint quality wasn't much different than the domestic/classic shows in which cars appear to get the old Turtle Wax car wash treatment with an old mitt and dried with a beach towel.

Here's when you know that the sealant topped with wax on the windows is doing a good job:
