denting/breaking foam pads???

When I did the Jeep yesterday, I felt something 'give' like I'd put a dent in a body panel!!! I knew I wasn't pushing nearly hard enough to flatten out the contour pad, let alone do that, but I noticed that my buffer now felt 'lopsided.'

I turned it off and looked at the pad (Lake Country yellow pad) and saw that the center 'ridge' was slightly flattened in one spot.

I changed pads, and after a while checked out the 'dented' one, and while it still felt flat in the one spot, it wasn't as bad as before.

Do these things have some kind of spine in them that could break?

Don, the only time that happened (which I noticed before I started working a car, not during) was when I had my buffer/pads all tightly stored in a carry bag. The way all the stuff was packed in, some of the pads got compressed in areas were pressure was put on them. never had them cave in while working though> turbo
