Dent King?

I have a big (surface area) but not too deep dent on my rear panel. Do you think I could use one of those dent king deals?



I know people think they are bad for door dings and such because they don't work very well, but what about for a big dent?

From reviews the best it works on is small grapefruit size dents. You just have to be careful about over pulling on them.
 
Are you talking about the 'Ding King' "as seen on TV" product? I have one of those and for the $20 I paid for it I think I have gotten my money's worth out of it. It has pulled several door dings out of my cars. Its not going to work for large dents though. Large dents need to either be pushed out from behind or pulled out with a suction cup. The thing that makes the Ding King effective is that the tab that glues to the car covers up most of the ding. A tab that small isn't going to pull out a large dent. The tool would have to be able to brace itself beyond the dent, so the tool is only effective on dents smaller than its length anyway.



If you are talking about a different system other than the small "Ding King" then I appologize for the post. I'm not familiar with Dent King. Unless that is some mobile operation that charges to pull dents then I don't really know what it is. I'm sure a mobile PDR guy could get the dent out for you without difficulty. He'll probably just pull a toilet plunger out of his truck and pop that dent right out. lol (or something like that)

Actually, I have half a mind to try a toilet plunger. As big as a surface area as the dent has, a plunger just may work. I read somewhere else in here about using a plunger, lol.



If I try it, I'll take before and after pictures for you guys. Luckily I just bought a new plunger so I won't be adding anything to what the birds have already covered my car in. :p

I have a mini plunger. Worked on two of my dents on my old car, but the funny thing is one of them u can push in and it pop back out. I guess metal stress or something.
 
In the past, on another car I had, neither a large or small plunger worked for me :( I even tried one of those heavy duty suction cup things with a handle from eastwood co. Hope the Ding King works.
 
About a year ago i produced an infomercial on one of these things for a DR copmany and it looked very cool...HOWEVER, the first dent that they put in the car it would not take out, same with the second, fionallly on the third it sortof worked...IMO it is a cheesy gimmick...On another note, about the same time I had a good sized dent n the side of my old truck and while having my windsheild replaced i asked the intalled if I could borrow his glass suction thingy and appied that to the dent and gave it a few good solid yanks...popped right out
 
I do paintless dent repair and would suggest that you go to a local dealership and have them recomend a pdr tech that they use before you do more damage than good to your car.

That;s pretty much what I have, din't work forme, I actually had it stuck to car and let go and walked away for a minute, then pulled the handle to release, ding still there :nixweiss

I need some advice about pdr. I have a feeling it might be cheaper to just repaint my panels and have the dings fixed. I have like 4 on my door and 3 on rear fender. Damn narrow parking lots. I did the math on some places, they usualy say something like 100-120 for the first one and then 35 bucks after that. Since my large number I have a feeling it going to be a big bill , or would a pdr guy give a bigger break from doing so many on one panel.
