Ok - I have gone through all of the product reviews and cannot seem to formulate a definitive answer as to what is the absolute best or top of the line leather cleaner / conditioner combination ... I am cleaning the leather on my new C63 AMG this week and want to get the best result (best meaning to maintain the natural new appearance of my leather) ... can someone please point me in the right direction?

10:1 mix of water to Woolite (the laundry soap version) is what I have used the last 13 or so years to clean leather and the best leather conditioner I have found is Leather Master's Leather Vital. It isn't cheap at around $60 a quart (you may be able to find it cheaper though) but I does a great job making leather feel soft and supple, plus giving it a "like new" look. No real fragrance either so your Mercedes will still smell like a Mercedes inside.

For your weekly leather care, just use a clean damp microfiber towel to wipe down your seats, door panels, etc. You'd be suprised at how clean your leather will look for a long time simply by wiping it down weekly.

Just started to use 10:1 Woolite myself. I like it, but I find my towel catching on the product and scrunching up itself which is annoying.

However, the cleaning ability of it is superb, make sure you finish up with a conditioner :2thumbs:

I do as Scottwax recommends with Woolite and the weekly wipedown with damp MF towel. For conditioner I like 4 Star (too cheap to buy Leather Master, if I ever get paid for my details then I may have to invest, but I really think 4 Star leaves a nice feel).

So ten ounces of water for every ounce of Woolite? I'm going to have to give this a shot. And I've been dying to try Leather Masters. I have a potential 10+ car detailing job for one client (He has a Ferrari, Ford GT and some more high cars) so I may pull the trigger on the Leather Masters.

any thoughts on leatherique??? i've heard great things about it on some other forums (not detailing-specific forums... but rather brand specific)...

Seems like Leatherique and Leather Masters vie for the best leather treatment.

I really like the Sonus leather kit. Recently worked on a G35 with it, and it turned out great. Can't beat the nice leather scent it leaves behind, either. :xyxthumbs

Leatherique is by far the best, I have tried many of the top brands, I gave away my Leather Master kit and Connolly Hide Food after starting to use Leatherique.

How does Leather Masters conditioner compare to leatherique or Surflex Sofner. Does LM appear to be a similar product or something totally different. My GS430 leather is a little shiney, rough, and waxy, and Leatherique or Zaino Z10 did not make much of a difference. Most modern car leathers including mine are covered in some kind of silicon protective top coat so little to no conditioner penetrates to soften the leather, I would think instead of a product made specifically for softening the leather they should make one to be able to soften the protective coat and able to penetrate the coat to soften it. I may try LM as a last effort to try to improve my leather but I have not really talked to anyone who has used it.

Honestly all I've tried is LEXOL. My g35's leather finish is streaky and sticky, matte in areas, glossy in others. I am not satisfied. I find myself cleaning and conditioning, then wiping down with a wet MF towel twice about ten minutes apart. This is the only way to retrieve a decent look with Lexol. Also the smell plays a number on my nostrils.

Conditioners should not be used on finished auto leathers as they can do little good and if they remain on the surface can actually cause more problems.

LM is a protector which is a far better concept as it helps to keep the leather clean from dirt which is what you need to be doing.

:wow: Very interesting... Please elaborate on the how's and why's... Not trying to be a wiseguy- I want to be informed...

I'd like to hear more about this product, and how it hinders oxidation (stops environmental damage)...

How do you apply the woolite? Spray on? Wet MF?
