Deep Scratches - Vandalised

when i got out of the house and to the car this morning i saw a mess of scratches all over the driver side. at first i was trying to think what i may have scraped yesterday but then i went over to the passenger side and saw new scratches there as well. it was a heartbreak.



some of the scratches are as deep as about one millimetre and wide as 1.5 millimetres. the deeper scratches have the bare metal exposed and there were paint dust particles to the side.



Anyways, I suppose it wont do anything to be angry at the person or animal that did this, so i'm just going to dive right into fixing the damage.



I figure that i should try and fill these scratches myself and if i make a mistake i can always take my car to the body shop.



So my question is how would i fill in the deep scratches. My biggest worry would be filling in the ridge that was created.

You might want to take it to the insurance company first so that they can document it and then write up an estimate before you go about trying to fix anything. Generally if you need to fill in a scratch you most likely can't fix it, you can only grind down the edges of the scratches to make them less noticable.

Yeah, sounds like straight vandalism to me. No brainer, let the insurance people deal with it. The tough part will be finding a good paint shop. But that's why you bought insurance, right.
