I took my tailgate to a detailer recently, for them to polish off some swirl marks, and other scratches. While the swirl marks are almost all gone, the finish of the paint is good, while not as shiny as the other parts of the truck. What would be a good product to use to bring that deep gloss back up. I already clayed it, and applied 2 coats of #26, and its still the same.

Thanks in advance.

Excellent, I have some on order from Carcareonline, and it should be here next wednesday. Along with my gallon jug of FI

Thanks.

Your Welcome.

Just remember to work the #7 into the paint. I went through two applicators with the #7 on a dark blue BMW that was 3 years old and garaged. I worked it in almost till it dried, then I buffed it off.

Then apply two light coats of #26 to ensure even coverage.

Even better than the Meguiar's #7 would be the 3M equivalent. Not many othe products product a shine like the 3M Imperial Hand Glaze. Laters

Great, just after I bought the Meguiers stuff. haha j/k, I felt that I should stay with Meguiers since I had can of their #26. Also, I have had problems ordering direct from 3M's store, the are sometimes backordered, and the SMR I ordered hasn't even been shipped yet.

You can find quite a few 3M products at your local NAPA store. Great place for this. Most people, if not all, will tell you that the 3M Imperial Hand Glaze will give you a nicer or shinier finish than the #7. The #7 is perfectly fine though. Laters

Chances are that if the polished finish is not that shiny then the "detailer" may have used too coarse an abrasive. (I am assuming he didn't go through the clearcoat) I would use The Finesse IT you have on order first. It is my favorite abrasive and will leave you with a very, very shiny finish. You can use #7 after that if you still think it's needed, or IHG, which I prefer and then top with your wax.

2011 CTS V Sport Wagon
556 Hp - Not Your Grandma?s Wagon

Below is a except from AutoBlog:
Here in America, drivers who prefer station wagons to crossovers and SUVs are in a distinctly fringe minority. In spite of that, Cadillac has heard the cries from the wilderness and delivered the car we've been clamoring for. The CTS-V Sport Wagon is now finally official and production starts later this year.

Ever since AMG built a handful of Hammer station wagons back in the late 1980s, the idea of a family hauler with ludicrous power and torque has held a strange and twisted appeal for us. The V-wagon takes all the traits we love about the 556-horsepower sedan and adds the expanded cargo body style.

Aside from the tailgate, everything else is carried over, including the magnetic ride damping system, Brembo brakes, 19-inch wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Sport PS2s, and the asymmetrical half-shaft rear end to avoid axle tramp. Add in 25.4 cubic feet behind the back seats and 58 cubic feet with them folded and we may well have the perfect performance car. Did we mention the 551 pound-feet of torque?

This vehicle was in need of some Deep Gloss TLC to prep for its driving time with Auto Magazine and Car and Driver this week.

Due to the very limited time I had with this vehicle (1.5 hours) and also due to the fact that it is about to get driven hard and hung up wet by the media this week, only a ?wash & wax? was performed and, as such my process, documentation and pictures are limited. I am posting this more due to the fact that this car is not yet released as opposed to show case the wash and wax.

Process:

Paint:
ONR wash
Duragloss Aqua Wax
Duragloss 501 on water spotting
Goo Gone use to remove duct tape residue on body

Glass:
Surf City Glass Cleaner

Engine:
Engine ONR wipedown
Duragloss 265

Wheels/Arches:
ONR
Barebones
Optimum Dressing

Exhaust Tips:
Never Dull

Thanks for looking, Stay tuned as I will have the CTS V coupe in soon!

WOW!!
If I was ever going to drive a wagon, that would be the ONE.

The car look great. How did you come about getting your hands on it?

Thanks and I agree with you, I would happily own this bad boy!

An executive director at GM brought me this car..

Very nice. Big fan of the Caddy body lines :wizard:

Thanks Flash...

You and me both buddy!

Looks great. But what was the duct tape for? Some after market WV chrome? :out:

Thanks

This vehicle is not yet released, there are only 5 of these currently built and 2 of them are test mules.

This particular vehicle has been used for engineering and has some device taped to the exterior... don't know exactly what it was because it was removed prior to me seeing it

Grandma would be proud to drive this on the supermarket! Been waiting to see one of these to come out. Looks sharp! thanks Jason for the shots of it!

I'm one of those in the "distinctly fringe minority". I've been driving a Cadillac CTS Sport Wagon for the past 9 months. After 15 years of driving several SUVs and more recently a crossover (Lincoln MKX) the CTS is a delight to drive. This is my first post. I hope to learn some tricks of the detailing trade that I may use.

The only things I hate are the Nav popping out of the dash and the fit and finish was not that good on the sedans. That is exactly why I bought a STS-V instead of the 09+ CTS-V.

B.T.W. The CTS-V Coupe is MUCH improved for fit and finish. I drove one yesterday.

I happen to like the pop up nav....

I do not know if interior fit/finish has improved over the MY you saw but I must say, I was VERY impressed with the interior of the 2010 V sedans I have done

I should be getting my pads on the coupe soon, can't wait!

You got that right!

My pleasure Angelo
