decision time for a rotary

after reading on here it seems the following two are very highly rated:



--Metabo

--Hitachi SP18VA



with the big autogeek gift card sale going on (ending today:(), i thought i would jump on a rotary now...however they only sell the Hitachi. everyone seems to rave about the metabo because of its (light) weight. anyone feel i should jump to the metabo right away, or save the $$ and get the Hitachi and just be happy? :)



i'm not as concerned about $$$ over getting "the best"...but i am only a weekend warrior with this, so overkill is not necessary. the one thing that sounds like a drawback on the metabo is the speed control and no throttle trigger.



thoughts?
 
I'd get the Makita, but I'm biased. If I were you, I would buy the Metabo w/o question.

If it was between Hitachi and Makita, I would go makita hands down. If it is between the Hitachi and Metabo, and money isn't a concern, then by all means, go with the Metabo.

I have a Hitachi and love it. Personal preference really. I don't know much about the Metabo, but no speed control doesn't sound good when working around edges. I bought the Hitachi instead of the Makita because it has a better warranty, 5 yrs compared to 2 yrs, and it is lighter as well. The cost didn't really matter, but it was a little less $. So think it over really well before you decide on one.
 
I just got my new Hitachi a few weeks ago. I used an old Dewalt before that. I'm very happy with the Hitachi. It is very quite and light. You can't go wrong for the money. I will probably be investing in a Metabo in the future. I've always wanted one and should have went with it, but like I said, the Hitachi still works very well.
 
My vote goes to the Metabo - Hitachi and Makita are great brands as well so you really can't go wrong. But it says something when a lot of their users want to "upgrade" to a Metabo.
