December 21st: Chat Night Guest Speaker: Michael Stoops of Meguiar's

Remember everyone, it's a Special Chat Room tonight with Meguiar's own Michael Stoops. Now is the time to ask your question/questions to the one who can answer them for you. Be there or be square!

SoCal is getting barraged by a major storm, the likes of which we don't normally see around here! Seriously, we are forecast to get several inches of rain in the next 24 hours, and it's been raining non stop since Friday. Our seasonal average is about 14 inches, and we could see 10 inches in the next day alone!!

But this is not like a good old fashioned Mid-West thunderstorm with high wind, lightning, thunder, etc. Just steady, non stop rain. Which means I don't foresee any power outages tonight, which is a good thing. I am leaving the office a bit early today, though, so that I can be at home in plenty of time to log on and answer your questions.

See you all in a few hours!

My stupid laptop has been acting up as of Sunday night....hopefully the restore worked so that I can still make it on tonight. :(

What make/model laptop?

Can you access the Internet and download an ISO file, then burn it to a blank CD?

If so, download Puppy Linux and boot to it. It's the only way I can joint the chat nights.

PM me if you need a hand...

Regards,
GEWB

Great weather to test products!!! So what's on your ride that could use the rain pounding for a wear test?

Thanks! It's not really related to getting on the chat though...

it's the new Dell XPS 15. Only had it about about a month now. Started freezing up on me Sunday night. I have to do a hard restart and then it will just freeze again. Sometimes it freezes before it boots up and sometimes after it's all booted up. I went into safe mode today and restored it back to a previous date. I think it's McAfee to be honest as it had recently done an update that night. I disabled it for now and will see if it works tonight.

Fingers crossed! :)

Hmm, couple things come to mind. If it happened only after Windows starts, I would look to Windows or applications - but if it sometimes freezes from a COLD BOOT (power OFF then power ON, not a "warm" reset reboot) then I would first look to the RAM (memory). If RAM checks out then look at the video.

I would still suggest burning Puppy Linux to CD and boot to Puppy and see what happens.
