I have a ton of questions. Hope Michael has his fingers warmed up :Santa Smiley:
My stupid laptop has been acting up as of Sunday night....hopefully the restore worked so that I can still make it on tonight.![]()
SoCal is getting barraged by a major storm, the likes of which we don't normally see around here! Seriously, we are forecast to get several inches of rain in the next 24 hours, and it's been raining non stop since Friday. Our seasonal average is about 14 inches, and we could see 10 inches in the next day alone!!
What make/model laptop?
Can you access the Internet and download an ISO file, then burn it to a blank CD?
If so, download Puppy Linux and boot to it. It's the only way I can joint the chat nights.
PM me if you need a hand...

it's the new Dell XPS 15. Only had it about about a month now. Started freezing up on me Sunday night. I have to do a hard restart and then it will just freeze again. Sometimes it freezes before it boots up and sometimes after it's all booted up. I went into safe mode today and restored it back to a previous date. I think it's McAfee to be honest as it had recently done an update that night. I disabled it for now and will see if it works tonight.
Fingers crossed!![]()
Hmm, couple things come to mind. If it happened only after Windows starts, I would look to Windows or applications - but if it sometimes freezes from a COLD BOOT (power OFF then power ON, not a "warm" reset reboot) then I would first look to the RAM (memory). If RAM checks out then look at the video.
I would still suggest burning Puppy Linux to CD and boot to Puppy and see what happens.
