Dealership Strikes Again

RAG why let them remove more paint.

Work out a deal to polish it right.

No, no they have a detail specialist in the back who ca take care of that. :D

Or, they have this guy who roxors that comes every Monday--it's no big deal. :D

I just don't see how they can do that. They do the exact same thing around here--brand new car, rotary @3000 RPM's, wool pad. :angry Around here they actually apply the wax by hand, then remove it with the methods posted above. :nixweiss

Why the hell would a new car require a rotary buffing,

They should be perfect off the trucks and then detailed carefully by hand prior to delivery

Wonder what polish or leveler they used on that car

Ingorance or lazyness. There may have been some leftover crap from the plastic sheeting and they probably figured it would just be easier to buff off the left overs. :waxing: :shocked

Well, it wasn't jus the hood - the entire car had halograms. Yeah, I can't imagine why they'd do it either - apparently they tried to get her to pay for their magic sealant but she didn't go for it...so then why would they buff the car.

Not uncommon at all, ALOT of dealerships have service people who lack basic motor skills. Sad...And it is partly her fault that she didnt check the car to see the swirls. Once it left they lot, they dont give a damn about you or your car anymore.

"courtesy buff" Thats a laugh...

And by the way, what moron car dealership thinks a NEW car needs a "courtesy buff"? I bet you the car had crap on the hood, probably some sort of vandalism. The dealership tried to fixed it but failed due to their high school drop outs incompetency in operating machines. That way when they present the car to her she thinks shes getting a deal. Leave the damn car alone!

Fortunately, I've learned through my ETG that polishing (and even compounding...unless done with twisted wool) really removes a lot less clear than you'd think...so I'm not real concerned about that. More importantly, I've learned through experience that they will indeed insist on fixing it themselves, which is why I instructed her to let them try to fix it if they insist but be sure to come to an understanding with them that they have one chance before they have to pay the detailer of her choice to make it right.

Fortunately, the swirls didn't appear to be THAT deep, I'm guessing a some kind of cheap final finishing polish or all-in-one type product was used...only with one of those old-school 8" pads, at high RPMs, and by someone who has no business buffing a black car.

I actually polished the front left fender via rotary to not only show her what her paint should look like, but to see for myself what would be entailed to fix the problem. I was able to achieve perfection with two steps, both using the rotary with Green P2 and PO106FF...first time at 1500 RPMs and second at 1000 RPMs...so they defenitely didn't use wool or anything.

Sorry guys, still no resolution yet. The owner told me she hasn't had time to bring it to the dealerhip. I fear that as more time passes, the more likely the dealership will say they didn't do it. We'll see.

She needs to get it to the dealer ASAP. I have no idea why she'd want to drive that mess around one single day longer.

Someone on another board is going through a similar problem but he has been back to the dealer.

I made the stupid decision of buying some paint protection product they were selling, and I had issues with bird droppings, and water spots, and tree sap, and each time I got it back, it came back worse. The paint protection company actually paid $300 to a detail shop, and thats when it came back the worse. After this, the dealer took it to their body shop to "refinish" the car and it didn't do any good. They said it was some 3-step process, but it looked like they threw a coat of wax on and called it a day (and a week of my time). The paint is starting to look cloudy in areas, and its hologram city. They told me today that "I should learn to fall in love with the swirls" and that a repaint would make the car look worse than the swirls...

Here is one of the same area... its the rear quarter panel.

At this point, he needs to see a lawyer...

Yeah, what a joke. I don't really see any buffer swirls, which tells me that each time they detailied it, they brobably just gave it an extra stiff scrubbing to get it really "clean" and then followed with a coat of wax...and thus each time they just put more and more washing swirls in the paint.

A local VW dealership messed up a black 07 Jetta. They took it to a local body shop to have it corrected. The body shop took it to us ,because they didnt want to work on it.They bring us all there detailing anyway.

Do not see Lexus short either. I had my car in for an EGR fix and got it back like someone took sandpaper to it! I was pissed. Nevermind the cherry scent in an ALL LEATHER CAR! I even called Lexus on it. They did not care.

So now I tell them do not wash my car or anything. Just fix it or whatever I have it in for.
