Dealership detailers a joke?

Canx your appt and find a reputable detail shop or have an Autopian meet you. I'm sure there are some on here from the LA area.

99% of the time the detail shop at a car dealership is manned with minimum wage HS students with zero idea of how to properly care for a car.

What?? It's not like that here in Southern California. Here, the industry is 99.98% Mexican, even at ALL dealerships!

:waxing:

If it were me i would tell them that they should pay for someone of your choice to do the work since they obviously arent competent enough to do it. You just spent a lot of cash with them and if they stand behind their efforts then they will say alright and contact your detailer of choice...if not just let them know that Acura will not be a popular brand among people that you know...and your family and friends are forbidden to even look at their sign when driving by

Hah, they won't care about that, trust me!

More like, try to find the owner of the dealership (usually have a private office somewhere) and if he/she can't help you, go to corporate (and you can even email them a link to this thread)

Dont bring it to the dealer - I was just at a honda dealership buying some crush washers for my oil filters and it was hologram city on the cars in the lot.

Do yourself a favor - find a good detailer who cares about YOUR needs, YOUR wants and tailors the detail to meet YOUR criteria. The dealership detailer MAY just let some inexperienced kid have at your car with a polisher and call it done. Good luck.

Some of the stealerships actually charge the customer for "new car prep"! :wow: :soscared:

There was a Subaru stealership in town that actually charged their customers for "new car prep", a "lot charge" (which consisted of "washing the vehicle" and "snow removal" during the winter months) and of course, big $$$ for tape pinstripes, bigger $$$ for "lifetime paint sealant" and a host of other charges.

Notice the "bold" on the word was. The stealership was indicted on fraud charges for non existant warranty work!

I agree with the 99% of dealers screw things up line, I am honestly making it my lifes work to find that 1% though, haven't seen it yet, let me know if any of you do.

I've found one of the small 1%. There's a dealer in Springfield, MO that deals with only high end cars (I know sometimes that doesn't even matter) They had a 2008 Porsche Turbo Conv., about 6 Ford GT's, a few Ferrari's, etc.... When looking through they're showroom floor I was impressed that I couldn't find a single swirl mark or imperfection on any of their cars. I asked to meet the detailer (one man show at this place), and he was a really nice guy and I talked to him for quite awhile while he washed a Ford GT in their wash bay.

Anyway, he used 3m polishes and rotary and not a hologram in sight. He'd heard of autopia.org (yeah, I spread the Autopia love when I can), and hadn't been on here, but said a friend of his that's a detailer is on here. Anyway, I was very impressed with this dealer and the first and only that I've seen like that.

Other then Sewell in the Dallas area (and even they aren't perfect), there are no quality details to be had at car dealers around here.
