Dana's (dboat) Acura TL

I used Vanilla Moose and Carnuba Moose. Also clayed the top half of the car.

A couple shots of his Lightning's engine. Cleaned using Greased Lightning's Power Citrus Cleaner (which does an excellent job, you could see the grease run down the side of the heads).

As always the cars you do look awesome. Just out of curiousity, how long does it take you to do an average size car on the outside and what steps do you normally go through(clay, polish wax)?:up

I just picked up my PC7336 and have been using it on my Mustang. So far the results have been good, but I'm having a little trouble getting some water spots out of the hood. I just picked up some DACP to see if that helps. My steps are clay the top, DACP, Meg's #9, P21S Paint Cleanser and S100 top. I've been doing a little each night as I don't have much shade to work with.

Nice cars and nice work. Especially on that engine. Does Dana still have the old Mustang? I remember a thread about that one a while back.

Navi Man-DACP should certainly help since that is what I used on dboat's hood on his Lightning. His were not real bad though. You may even need to step up to Diamond Cut or Power Compound (Meguiars BSP line) if the water spots are especially bad.

I almost always work by hand (I did use dboat's PC when I did his Mustang because it had a lot of scratches) so my times may not be applicable to what you are doing and I also have been detailing full time as a career for 9 1/2 years now. Anyway, if the paint is in decent shape, if it needs claying, it normally only needs the top half of the car done and that can take from 15-30 minutes on average. Light polishing or glazing takes about 20 minutes (apply and remove) and waxing about 15 (apply and remove). Larger vehicles and more intensive paint work do take more time. The last time I detailed that 740, he had just got it back from the dealership after they repainted the top half of the car and left MAJOR swirls in the paint. (BTW, the dealership is MORITZ BMW IN ARLINGTON TEXAS ON COLLINS....always want to give a nice public mention of dealers who leave swirls on customer's cars), and it took me DACP, Swirl Free and Vanilla Moose to get the paint the way I wanted it, along with nearly 3 hours of time.

Sweet!! What did you use to dress the engine?

Regular old Armor All. I had to wipe it on all the plastic and hoses since I didn't want to spray anything directly onto his engine and make the blower belt slip.

thevolvoguy-Dana sold the Mustang a while back. It was a really beautiful car. 1989 convertible with the gold interior and less than 90,000 miles on it. Dana takes real good care of his vehicles and the Mustang looked amazing for being 14 years old.

Oh yeah, thought I would throw in a pic of my brother's new Mr. Mom vehicle (his wife is due in about 3 weeks). He got it about 10 days ago and really likes it. Should come in handy with his blossoming computer business and growing family and having 240 hp in a minivan doesn't hurt either!

Yes, that is the fender of my car in the lower right side of the picture!

I used Winner's Choice Finishing Creme (a polymer) and topped with Carnuba Moose.

Thanks for the help. The paint on the hood of my Mustang is new (about 2 1/2 months old now) but I think I got some water spots because I wasn't able to wax it and some water got on it with the hood being very warm and I wasn't able to wipe it dry. I used the DACP tonight and it seems to be doing a pretty good job. Hopefully, Ill be able to get it finished this weekend and I'll post some pics. Unfortunately the hood is going to have to be repainted, as their is a small crack in the paint. It appears the paint cracked a little over an inch and it's all the way into the color coat. Oh, well. It gives me a hood to practice on until it goes back into the shop.

Just out of curiousity, do you have much experience with Autowax products. I have a distributor that I sell a fair amount of solvents to that has all the Automagic products. He swears by them. He also talked me into their water spot remover, but I have been reluctant to try it, as it contains some small percentages of acids in it. He says that it will work great if you just wipe it on, but you need to make sure the car is in the shade and cool and immediately follow with water. Have you had much experience with this type of product?

Thanks again for all your help as I have followed your posts closely and value all the input you have to offer us driveway detailers.:bow

Navi Man=other than Clay Magic, I do not like Automagic products. They are geared more towards the 'assembly' line detailers (those who put through large volumes of cars where the emphasis is on quanity, not quality....like tote the note lot cars). They might have a good product or two other than their clay, but they are not in the same league as Meguiars Body Shop Professional products or 3Ms professional lines overall.

I didn't read the caption in between the pics. Just for a split second i thought that he had a blower installed on the TL. :shocked :lol

He is really happy with the van so far. He has a growing computer business of his own, plus he is a systems analyst for a law firm, so he always has computers to haul around. His Mazda 626 was too small, and his Expidition gets horrible mileage and his wife needs it to tow a small horse trailer anyway.

I thought about buying his 1999 Mazda 626 (auto/V6), but it already has 76,000 miles on it and I'd have it over 100,000 in a year, and I really don't want a black car. Besides, what I really want is a 5 speed Maxima! :xyxthumbs

Here are a few more pics of Scott doing the detailing.. the man is a machine when it comes to detailing.. the heat he can generate on a towel when doing DACP is incredible.. but now the truck looks great.. he didnt post or take pics of the interior since I had him do the carpets, but they are fluffy and my OCAR friend thought they looked brand new and the rubber mats I have looked better than new.. props to Scott:bow
