dark spots in paint

Hey guys, new member here from SC looking for some help with a little problem. I purchased a low mileage, all original paint 94 F150 last year. It took me forever to find an all original low mileage truck. I love the truck, but would like to help the paint a little.

I think the truck sat a lot and someone tried to detail it right before the owner put it up for sale, but did more harm than good. The copper color has scratches everywhere that are very visible up close, and the gold color has dark spots that I cannot seem to remove. I'll post the pictures and let you guys be the judge.

Looks good from a distance

Welcome, and congrats on finding such a nice, original truck !

Unfortunately, with paint that old it looks like it is failing on the gold color, probably because it IS that old.

The sides look like what I saw in your pics is not damaged yet, and can be cleaned up with a compound, pads and a machine..

Good luck with this !

Thanks. I should have mentioned this, but the spots in the gold color will come off, but it would be at the expense of hundreds of hours of labor. I'm just trying to find and easier method or product to remove it.

Get a buffer and some compound.

I've seen something like those dark spots before but never tried to figure out what they were.

Someone told me (and I don't know or saying it is the problem) it can be mold/mildew starting?
