Dare I Wetsand a 50 Year Old $300,000 Dollar Ferrari??

Can't wait for the owner let you do the rest of his collection!.........this is what i'll be doing.....:bow

Sweet! Your work is amazing. It must take a lot of balls to wetsand a car like that. I don't know the first thing about wet sanding so I wouldn't have done it of course. You might have to show me next time you come down if you are going to be wet sanding anything down here.

I'm seriously speechless Josh. Amazing job that (based on your level of work) will ensure much more exotic and high end work. Your ethic and ability is amazing!!!!

That is one sexy beast (as are all of the 250 Ferrari's IMO) and probably one of the greatest looking Ferraris ever. Very lucky that vintage Ferrari fell into capable and caring hands.

Great job dude!!!!!!!

Thanks for the compliment Todd now and on the other forum.:2thumbs:

I want to do a 250GTO now. Maybe one day. They are amazing, I've always loved F cars, but this is like a whole new world of F cars I never realized existed.

I'm sure I'll be getting some calls from that shop in the future, they do a lot of modding, tuning, restoring, and repairs to F cars and Lambo exclusively.

I had an opportunity to show the owner his paint compared to some of the new one's sitting in the sun right behind me and he was really amazed. I told him his paint is now better then most new ones.:woot:

No prob Jason, at first I thought about it a couple times, but then was like, "why am I thinking about this, I've done it a hundred times, why should this be any different"?? Plus who gets to say they wetsanded a $300,000 dollar car, thought I'd like to one day say I did..... :grinno:

WOWWWWW... josh you have now been added to the (very small) list that can say they have 1. detailed a ferrari and an even smaller list of people that have wetsanded one. I am honestly in aw (sp) of this job. This is such a beautiful piece of art (the actual car and your detail). All i have to say is one day i want to shake your hand lol.

I can tell you had TONS of fun on this job. ide bet the dealer will now recommend you because they have seen you level of work (i know i would!).

Major Kudos!!!

Were the rims Chrome or Alum? The 250 GT I did, the rims were alum, and a PITA to get to shine. You only used the Blue magic on the chrome and got that kind of results?

I really need to find a good polish for alum non coated wheels.

Are you going to get the 330?

Again amazing results!

Thanks Greg, the rims were aluminum. I hand polished them for a while. I thought they turned out nicely. I used blue magic metal polish, liquid kind, on all the chrome and it is pretty strong stuff, it does a great job at cleaning and restoring chrome and many other metals, I would probably not use it as a waxing type of chrome polish though, (if that makes any sense).

I dont' know about the 330 or the other's but I know he's already told me I'm doing the other 250GT coupe he has. Hopefully they will all eventually fall prey to my rotary in the long run.:woot2:

Thanks for the props.

Josh that was a sweet car and hell of a detail...like you said though why not wetsand when you have done it many times before...now your confidence has shot through the roof...excellent job, keep it up

Looks great!!

Is it just me or does it look like Ferrari just stole the design of the 55' Thunderbird for the front end? :wow:

so did he daily drive this thing for the past 30 years or just park it in a soft cloth car wash?! holy **** that thing was beat. great job on that one!

You did an amazing job, and should be proud of it! :goodjob

Thanks. I am, I just wish I had more time to do more. I told the owner, typically 10-15 hours for a Show Car Quality process and it took me all of 15 hours, but I could have done better on the engine bay and rims for sure getting things inbetween that I just didn't have time to perfect.

Definately, I did think twice about it though.

Heck if Paul Dalton can wet sand a Bugatti then I can too. (not like it's my first time to wetsand, I do not suggest trying it till one is experienced with it....my disclaimer):rofl

I agree, Ferrari had that design for quite a few years actually I believe even in the 52 model F cars had a very similar design so you could say T-bird stole it from Ferrari, even the first Corvette in 53 had that design and T-birds didn't start till 55......so technically the T-bird was stealing from a few others.:secret :2thumbs:

No, it was restored about 15 years ago. For 15 year old paint the swirls were actually not bad at all, just alot of scratches on the sides, I'd bet it's from being at shows and GTG's from leaning up against it. Consider the top has never, not even once, been put up on that car, first time for me when I washed it so I don't know if it's even been washed, I can say the clay was not really needed as it hardly had any contimation on it at all.....
